planedriver Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Scout nut Arthur Walker showing his off on 10-001 before it recieved it's rebuild. After this post, I was considering trying to find a Scout to pose in, wearing my grandfathers WW1 kharki hat with polished brass badge from his days in the Royal Flying Corps to qualify for 5 bars just to impress the troops. But thought better of it. He flew Sopwith Camels which he said were an absolute pig to fly, as they were nose heavy and flew like a builders truck loaded with bricks. Rgds planey
farri Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I realy have flown the scout a couple of times over the years. How many bars should I have on my shoulder? Frank.
Tomo Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 How many bars should I have on my shoulder? Make it six for Bravery awards
Guest Maj Millard Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I really like the 'back of the fuel tank in the face' look !!............................................:black_eye::kboom:
Guest ozzie Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 better than an engine through the back of the head like some of the pushers that came out of the States. Once Ron put on the wing warp system the Scout was really nice to fly in still winds.
Guest Maj Millard Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Yes indeed, I lost a couple of mates in California to the old 'engine in the back of the head'....not a good look and usually permanent...............................................
