'A step too far' comes to mind.

 

Re the tail fin, still think its boxy. Why not a curved leading edge. Might be harder to make but would look a lot better.

You can. SAAA do this all the time. You can even build a jet powered plane if you wish. The bloke who runs Australian Aircraft Kits. (Ole Hartmann at Taree) was/is of the view that this is ths best way to go, so if he is willing to give you some of his time, it would be worthwhile speaking with him. (In my view).
