DarkSarcasm Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Does anyone know anywhere in Melbourne where I can book a trial Gyrocopter flight? I'm out to try as many different kinds of aircraft as possible and think these look rather funky.... I googled 'Gyrocopter Melbourne' but the only results I got were news articles about people dying in gyrocopter crashes (just what I want to know...makes me wonder if Gyros are actually safe?) So does anyone know of anywhere in Melbourne that has gyros?
DarkSarcasm Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks Sem. Now I just need to justify the petrol cost of the 4 hour round trip Maybe when I get my licence I'll do a nav up there...
bones Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi Darky, He Trains in one of Australia's best Gyroplanes. (The Kruza built By GT Gyroplanes in Victoria) Trent Maybe the best Ossie made, is what you ment to say ayy Sem :stirring pot:
Guest Qwerty Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Darky, Why would you drive 4 hrs to an airfield???? Time to suggest a navex to your instructor I'd say. Qwerty
DarkSarcasm Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 I have a feeling he won't agree to a navex until I manage to land the bl**dy thing without his help at least once Plan for the future though :)
Guest Qwerty Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Darky It works like this. you have the $ so you get to make (at least some of) the rules. Seriously, a navex any time is good. Just do the study, simple stuff really, then go do some cross country, you are probably fed up with circ by now any way. It'll do you good to go for a fly. Qwerty.
Yenn Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Qwerty is right. Too long doing circuits doesn't necessarily make your landings better and it is one of the reasons for the high drop out rate of student pilots. There is so much you could do on a cross country flight apart from navigation.

Tomo Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Yeah, go and bash a Nav... BTW how many hrs you got now?
DarkSarcasm Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 I've got 12.3 hours (going up quicker now I'm flying twice a week though, yay!)
Tomo Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Nice... though probably not enough yet to go bashing yourself around about landing! If it was a Cessna 150 you probably could...!
