Tweed Airstrip

What is the closest airstrip for RAA aircraft to Tweed heads that I can leave a aircraft ie Club Field ??? will be working in the area for several months :kboom::kboom:

Murwillumbah I'd guess, a bit inland on the Tweed River (1/2 an hour?). Don't know too much about the place but someone will no doubt enlighten us.

 

Your other choices are Boonah, about 1.5hrs over the range or Heck Field at Jacobs Well, probably about an hour from the Tweed. Tyagrah (sp?) near Byron Bay is probably also worth considering. Hangar space is at a premium in this part of the world so you may battle there.

 

The RA Aus website gives contact details for the various clubs, probably worth a few calls.

High bushman, i believe their is no hangarage, space at murwillumbah or tayagarah, but i think you can leave your plane out side at murwillumbah, Anyway to cut a long story short - contacts are- murwillumbah flying club- 02 6672 3235 and byron bay glider club-02 6684 7572. I fly to murwillumbah a bit. nice airfield , one strip 36/18. It is only about one inch above sea level (well a little higher), it does flood a bit after heavy rain. Cheers
