Titan mustang kit

There's qute a number of them flying in New Zealand (no smart remarks about our Air Force please :patch:), they sure are nice looking machines.

 

Ivan (& Sandy) Campbell - Titan T-51 Mustang - are the distributors in this part of the world and they have done some real good work in assembling them. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to talk to you.

There is a guy building one at Gympie Airfield. I forgot his name but he works on it daily in the "biggest" hangar. It will be a nice plane when finished and I have dropped in a few times to check on the progress. It certanly is not far from Boonah and worth a flight to Gympie to check it out. The work involved is daunting though.

I made some enquiries a while ago when the 750 kg limit looked good.

 

Do-able as a single seater on RAA rego but still needs to be kept light.

 

Look into the engine weights and proposed fuel capacity.

 

My opinion is it would probably be best as VH exp with a honda or isuzu V6.

FWIW. The two 75% P51's that Jim Wickam operates are not Titan Aircraft. They are all composite, both running around 500hp all Ally Chevs with redrives and four blade C/S props and yep, sound great and go like a cut cats! built under VH EXP.( stall speed is 70 odd knots)

Jim does have one Titan mustang ,PG aviation is almost near completion of there two seat plug that will be a carbon fibre shell ,Chrome molly fueslage , And all components made on there CNC . It will have the choice of two engines Rotax or the Isuzu V 6 and is 3/4 scale . The Rotax version is designed to fit in the RA AUS registration and will have the same docile characteristics as the Brumby range of aircraft allowing safe flying for low time pilots . Those pilots requiring some thing with a bit more punch can use the V6

Yes and know ,The RAA style is designed to be as cheap as possible therefore the Rotax will suit a range of people that can build a quality aircraft at a reosonable price . Once you step up to yhe V6 it adds cost as it is a very different inatalation . I agree it will sound much better though .It is important to cater for both markets we will run the V6 in the first one here . These are not really designed as a great aerobatic aircraft will get some pics up soon , Cheers

Interesting comparison between the Thunder Mustang and the original. Similar speeds but almost twice the climb rate (and 300kt cruise)!

I was going to make the hurricane my next awesome LSA thread:

Personally I would stay away from hoping to achieve LSA status.

That said, if this is 472kg MTOW, it fits 19-xxxx.

 

Not sure why people want to build/fly 'Walter Mitty' machines like this, and carry passengers?

 

I figure, if you want a two seater, build a two seater
