F22 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Are any particular planes better suited to formation flying?
Guest moruyaaeroclub Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Formation Training Hi, Formation training can be done in most two seaters. Some are better than others as they have better visibility (to keep an eye on the other ship) The training starts with familiarity of having another plane close by, and getting used to the "line-up" features that you use to hold position. Then you build up experience in holding the different positions relative to the lead aircraft (left and right echelon, line astern etc). Slowly the formation can be closed up, but it is important not to rush into it. We recently got some video of the two Gazelles in Formation at Moruya The comment about staying current is true, like all things we need practice. Take a safety pilot with you if you need to practise something you havent done for a long time. Most instructors are happy to provide guidance and tips anytime. Sheldon
Guest moruyaaeroclub Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Cheers Terry, thanks for the invite. Hope to get the website fixed up in the next few days. Any tips you can give me will be very welcome. Keep in touch Sheldon
Guest Elk McPherson Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Sheldon that was awesome, well done. I take it Paul and/or Fluer had a hand in that?
