Guest Qwerty Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 You are starting to sound like them. I'll tell you where to draw the line. Don't let any little kids in. Anyone else that gets hurt probably deserves it and shouldn't be out in public unsupervised. That's where you draw the line. Council's are made up of idiots.
Tomo Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 You know Qwerty, I'd have to agree with you.....
Scottw Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 A couple from late Friday Arvo a couple from Sunday Scott
dunlopdangler Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Anyone we know? I've reeaally got to get back to work and loose those extra kilo's....:pig:
Mazda Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Absolutely awesome photos Scott! (I don't think I'd be game enough to post mine after your magnificent effort!) Keep them coming! That's interesting about the safety vests because I wandered around in and out of airside Saturday and Sunday, climbing over/through the fences. No vest, I had my ASIC but wasn't carrying it. No one said a word.
Tomo Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Great, awesome photos Scott! You must have a mighty fast shutter hap'n there! to get the prop the way it is.

Scottw Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Many thanks guys for the feedback. As I mentioned previously I just love aircraft, especially vintage and the warbirds. I don't know about the other photographers but my photography is trial and error and loads of practice to keep current on the technique.
Spin Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 My photography is more error than trial, especially this weekend when I overdid the slow shutter speed trick and ended up with lots of nice blurred prop discs - I don't think the shot of espresso I had on the way down helped either! Looked fine when reviewing on the field but ..... Changing the subject a little, I neglected to convert to mexican time and arrived later than intended, did the Spitfire from Brissie put in an appearance? Saw the FW190 on th apron but had really wanted to see the dogfight.
flying dog Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hi folks. Got back the other day but been SO busy. I got there Thursday and left Monday. As Slarti said: It was HOT! :( I got burnt something shocking. My bottom lip is burnt and kinda bleeding now. :( To all who were there who didn't know me, I was one of those "ORANGE VESTS" walking around. Probably the shortest one there, and probably the most active. To clarify some things - though I have not read EVERY post - WRT the vests: Yeah, I know most of us are responsible pilots etc. But the idea is that the vollies wore them to identify them selves to people who needed help. Also some of the planes there were not cheap and they wanted limited access to them. So everyone wearing a vest would not really help the situation of keeping people away from the planes. There is/was a lot of trouble going on with the council and CASA and RAA WRT safety and they (Gai and the organisers) had to play it by the book on rules. ANY slipup, injury or what ever would be used to help get rid of the airport and stop future shows. I appreciate it is "annoying" not being allowed near the planes, but from council's view there is the safety issue. My view on that is neither here nor there. I do what I am told. There are perks to doing the vollie work - one of which is you get to go air-side and stay there. Maybe more people should offer help and simply not complain. (No offence to anyone.) There was a lot going on behind the scenes which most people didn't see or want to know about. Sure it comes with the event. Oh, it was really funny (what else can I call it?) when the people were sitting behind the avenger and the engine started. They were told to move before and the dust storm was enough to get most to move. They didn't need telling twice the second day. Though we tried to get them to taxi out a little before doing the run ups. Anyway, yeah, I had a great time. Saw Slarti, and probably a few others, but didn't actually get introduced. I remember meeting one other person too, but now can't remember his name. Anyway folks, I have to go and get other jobs done. (YUCK - but they gott get done.) Happy and safe flying to all.
flying dog Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Just watched Tomo's video. I think that is my scone you can see about 6:10 into the vid' obstructing the shot. Sorry if it is Tomo.

dazza 38 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Top photos starli, looks like you had a wonderful trip mate.Cheers
pudestcon Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Wow Slarti, What a great weekend and the photos are awesome!! Pud
flying dog Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 BTW ...did anyone see the new J230 bounce ...once .... bounce twice.... bounce three ...er no power up and go around and recovery ... very well done...who is going to own up?It was a perfect example of why a go around was smart because the way the oscillation was occurring, bounce three would have been a prop strike without a doubt. David That happened a couple of times with that plane. I saw it too.
pudestcon Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I saw it too. From inside or outside the cockpit? Pud
flying dog Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Sorry: OUTSIDE - luckily for me. I know we shouldn't point fingers, but I am 99% sure I saw it happen a couple of times with that plane too. Bit worrying.
Guest Sharp End Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 While Ms M and I were pulling down the tent (we camped near the heli joyflights at the southern end of the strip) on Sunday morning said Jab managed to scare the cr@p out of us with the most horrendous howling noise as the aircraft landed nosewheel first and bounced off into the distance... not a good look and it sounded worse. Glad it all worked out for them - maybe a few too many "knots for grannie"?!
