Has anyone got contact details for Canungra qld airstrip or another private strip in the Tamborine Village area?

Watto, I can't vouch for the accuracy or currency of the gen, but I was given a contact no. 5544 6406.

Keep us posted, I'd be interested to hear whether they are still active, seeing as it is in my neck of the woods.

Cheers Carl

Thanks Carl, I have been trying that number for a few days but cannot get an answer.

Hi Watto, I did a bit of digging and I see that number has been quoted in one form or another for years, so it is possibly outdated - sorry.

Dazza, I haven't been there, but I understand that it is on the left before the winery, as you're travelling north - before you turn onto the Beenleigh - Beaudesert Road. Sounds like a little recce is in order.

G'day guys, "Canungra International" as it is known is a great little spot. The Stip is fairly narrow and runs along side a creek with trees pretty close to approach path on the northern end.

Google Earth co-ordinates are 27'55 - 153'06

It is just near the winery at the turnoff from Beaudesert to Canungra and you must avoid overflying it so modify your circuit accordingly.

Here are a few pictures...

Thanks David, what are the protocls for landing there and leaving an aircraft overnight or for a weekend? how long is it and what surface and condition at present, power lines etc. sorry to bombard you with questions but I might just whip down to see the grandaughter next weekend.

No worries watto. Unfortunately I don't know about leaving an aircraft there and don't have any contact details for anyone there, I imagine it would be ok.....

Someone who may know is a member of this site called "Kiwi" if you can find him on here and PM him he may be able to help you.

Sorry I am not sure of the length, it is a bit tight though. A J230 should be fine but there isn't much room to float along the runway so you will have to get it down asap.

Surface is grass and smooth last time I was there, could be boggy after rain.

If you're landing from the north (not sure of RW directions) be aware of a large tree that is just off to the left side of the runway and actually protrudes into the approach path somewhat - you can see this in google earth if you have a look.

The ground beyond the hangars at the southern end rises but not a great deal.

Apart from not overflying the winery that is about all the information I can give you, sorry I can't help with numbers or names.

Happy flying, and hey, why not drop into Boonah while you're in the area.

Hello Watto,

In the same boat mate. My place is at Tamborine - did you have any luck with the contacts. I can just see the windsock from the road near the winery. I have a gyro so I can trailer it in. Is there any club to join.. etc.

Any help appreciated.

Gordo
