Guest ozzie Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Two aviation legends recently passed away. Fred Morrison passed away on on February 9th aged 90. Most probably wont recognise his name until i mention the word 'Frisbee'. Fred invented the modern version of the Frisbee in 1937 after chucking around a cake tin lid. The other most of would have heard of. James Morris 'Morry' Hummel, aircraft designer and builder including the recent Hummelbird, passed away aged 94 on February 4th.
Guest Maj Millard Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I'm sorry to hear of Morry Hummels' passing. In the 80s I converted a 1/2 VW and purchased a modified 1/2 crank, heads, carb and prop hub from him which worked out fine. I had several nice phone chats with him and he couldn't have been more helpfull. His 'Hummelbird' is his legacy and he also was a first class aircraft sheet metal worker which shows in the aircraft. He's left his mark for sure.....Thanks again Morry !...............................................................Maj...
