Crashnburn Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I just landed, and Ian invited me to post something about myself. I've been a student pilot since August of 2001, and hope this will be the year I solo and get at least an LSP license. I have a lot of time in C-172s and Citabrias, with a hour in a Grumman Tiger and Grumman Yankee. I also have an hour in a Liberty XL, and have some time in a Glasair Glastar. I also got to handle the controls of a Grumman Duck while I was working on my A&P license. I found a Evektor Sportstar at the FBO where I started learning to fly in a Citabria, and hope things will come full circle and I can get my LSP in the Sportstar. Soon, I hope, afterwards, I plan on building a Zenith CH-650 and drop a Gemini 125 HP diesel engine in it, to give it better range on less fuel, and thus fuel weight. (I'm heavier than the standard FAA pilot, at 217 lbs, so I need a plane with a high full fuel useful load. CAVU and happy landings, everyone.
Tomo Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 G'day mate, and welcome along... The little diesel sounds sweat! My dream plane one day will have a diesel engine in it one way or another.... Great stuff. Take care, Ps. I hope you don't literally Crashnburn! :)
FlyingVizsla Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Hi Crashnburn, Have you heard anything about the progress on the Gemini diesel engine? We have a Gemini 100 on order and last heard they were in endurance testing phase a few months ago. The 125 turbo was supposed to follow. I guess the Global Financial Crisis put them behind schedule. That's Powerplant Developments in the UK. Tim Archer is their rep in the States. Sue
Guest Kevin the Penniless Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Maybe you wanna change you name? CrashnBurn is a bit, well, spooky? Anyway, have fun, sounds interesting with the diesel motor.
