Owi Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Well, hello all you happy flyers out there. Despite having just 12 hours flight training in GA / Cessna 152 (and mostly enjoying it), I thought perhaps I should give RA a go because I was beginning to feel that maybe I had embarked on the "wrong" path to a licence to fly. (Yes, economics played a part too.) Yesterday, I had my first lesson / flight in an RA aircraft - a Tecnam P96 Golf (I had intended the Jabiru J170 but it wasn't available) - and, well, I was simply astounded. I didn't think it could be so much fun. Even though there was moderate turbulence around, I wasn't in the slightest bit as tense as I would be in the Cessna. I can only attribute this to the aircraft itself - it gave me a tremendous confidence boost in that it was so responsive to my slightest input! So, now I'm going to close my GA avenue and embark wholly on the RA path to flying fun. I intend to continue to learn lots and hopefully help others if and where I can. Oh, I'm also a keen flight-simmer (FSX), computer nut and tech/gadget freak, so any discussions along those lines here will also attract my attention. So, here's hoping that this is the start of a long and fruitful new chapter in my passion for aviation. Looking forward to "meeting" with you in the forums and perhaps even at a fly-in somewhere. Cheers,
Guest Decca Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Hi Owi, welcome to the forums. Nice to have another new member with such a happy disposition as yourself. Regards, Decca.
Owi Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Have you got the chance to get down to Temora over the Easter weekend for the "mother of all fly-ins"? I think you'll be blown away by the activities planned by RA-Aus and the variety of aircraft suppliers "on tap" not to mention 30 or 40 members of this Rec Flying Forum. Thanks, BlackRod. As a matter of fact, I fully intend on getting to NatFly 2010 but I may have found out about it a little late. I was hoping to be able to find somebody with whom I can share flying costs to get there but haven't yet met anybody at YSBK who's going. Looks like I'll be driving instead. Cheers,
