Phildo Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Does anyone know what happened? Type? Is the female pilot ok? Early days yet but could someone shed some light on the crash? I hope she is doing ok. Thoughts go out to family and friends ..... Phil.
shags_j Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 19-4722 From the RAAUS register. 19-4722 Scratch Built 10 K T 11/07/2006
slartibartfast Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 There's more info and a photo in the Savannah forum (started for the other incident in Qld yesterday). There's a news report with crash photo here. Very unfortunate incident. I hope she fully recovers as quickly as possible (the reports I have read indicate severe injury, not death - let's hope).
shags_j Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Very strange circumstances. They say no engine failure and no radio call to brisbane tower. Guess we will have to wait for the investigation.
Deskpilot Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 oops, I've got the wrong accident, and apparently the wrong info re the pilot. see other posts referring to woman pilot.
Foto_Flyer Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Photo of aircraft from a couple of years ago. JetPhotos.Net Photo » 19-4722 (CN: 002) Private Little Aeroplane L'il Tinny by Robert Frola Obviously home designed and built. Last I heard, she was in a critical condition in hospital, but is expected to survive. She has obviously had some problem, and just because the engine was still running doesn't mean that it wasn't engine trouble. From what I could see, looks like most damage is to the nose and left wing. While it's natural for us all to be interested and concerned, we might just have to wait till the investigation is complete to know for sure what happened.
shags_j Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Good call foto. You can tell just from reports that people were saying engine was running while Mick Poole said it wasn't. Goes to show that even eyewitnesses seem to disagree.
sain Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 There was an article in Pacific flyer back in 2008 (I think) about that aircraft and its twin. Home designed and built for about $12,000 per plane all up I think. I believe the first one the guy built won an award at Natfly a few years back. Hope the pilot survives!
Guest Maj Millard Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Quite a tidy little design, pity it is highlighted under these sad curcumstances.
Guest terry Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Has anybody heard any news as to the female pilots condition. thanks
Phildo Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Nothing heard yet. I guess eventually someone will let us know of her circumstances. Do we have her name yet? Must have hit hard, poor lady. Phil.

Turnerj Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 The first pic was taken literally hours before the crash, the second is from the courier mail. Hope she recovers soon.
Guest mitty Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 mitty any information available re seized new jabiru engine reported last week
Guest Maj Millard Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I'm still waiting to hear about the one six months ago in Vic......but it all went quiet...Maj.. Also, see additional post under heading 'Sticky:
Guest Maj Millard Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I believe from prev posts that the engine in this aircraft was a 503, normally quite reliable and well suited to this application. Fuel problem ??. I haven't heard any real bad news about the pilot, so can only assume that's good news ?.................................Maj..
