Arrived home after an 8 hour drive back to Tamworth. My 10 year old Son and I had a ball. I went to Narromine about 3 years ago and I believe the facilities at Temora were better. I guess the museum was a big draw card too. We camped at the airport in the camp grounds. For the first year at Temora, I could see a lot of organisation had gone into the event. There was plenty of food stalls and a lot of detail had gone into providing entertainment. Yes...there are a few things that could be implemented next year but overall it was fabulous. I will be back next year for sure.

I would like to add a couple of things to a wish list for future events. A wireless web connection would be fantastic! Not for free but you could buy a 24 hour voucher or how ever most motels do it these days. Would like to see a more regular cleaning regime of the toilets and showers in the camp ground as these were a little overworked at times. Last but not least can the Council empty the bins at any other more civilised time than 6am in the morning?

Yeh, bright Hey, ask Stiffy and he'll tell you it's just the normal aura that comes std with every Jab! Anyway, it's a a lot brighter than me at that time of AM- wish that coffee guy was up this morning- I didn't wake up till I got thrown around at Narromine on the way back- my mate back here said that the wind blew over some tents last night- never saw any- saw plenty getting lifted with heavy snoring tho!

WOW WHAT AN EVENT

WOW is just about what I am feeling at the moment - I said to Carol (NSW Board Member and one of the organisers) that the weather will either make or break this first time event at Temora. Bad weather would have had a dramatic impact in the acceptance of the move from Narromine to Temora but the weather gods were on our side to show what Temora really had to offer.

NatFly 2010 was the most successful yet with over 1,000 planes attending, the loads and loads of people and to think that we still have "formally" 2 more years there what we can do over those years.

Yes there were some small logistical issues which naturally you would expect but none of them were insurmountable especially when you have a Town Council and everyone in the town wanting to help in any way they could because to put it simply..."they wanted us there".

As you came into the town there was a big sign saying welcome to us all and it was from "The Friendliest Town" and they sure did prove it - Thank You Temora!!!

All your comments are listened to and some things Eugene and I were talking about for next year is to have the Museum to have their airshow on the Sunday so we can see the Spitfires, the jets, the old favourite aircraft flying in front of us and more. We can try and get the Oshkosh John Deere Train going so we can go all around NatFly without all the walking around what will become an even bigger event.

We can try and get all the eating and drinking areas combined into one big area and more accessible showers and toilets. The Council were so overwhelmed by the whole event being twice as big as they expected are welcoming our talks for next year.

It was for me personally a fantastic opportunity to meet up with many of you here on the site and when possible to have a chat and hear all the great things that you are getting from the site - can I sincerely say that hearing this really makes me feel like what I do here IS appreciated and DOES help many many people to fly safer and enjoy "their" world of recreational aviation. Some times it all gets to much but at Temora I can so easily see that this site is incredible in what it offers and that is all because of your posts in helping each other - thank you and I mean that very sincerely.

The Clear Prop Shop went really well as it needs to due to the site's $2,500 hosting costs are due at the end of April so thank you to everyone that purchased something - the site lives for another year by your support - did you know that we now use between 35 and 40gig of traffic every single month 011_clap.gif.c796ec930025ef6b94efb6b089d30b16.gif that proves how successful you are in making this your site.

Lachlan, my 8 year old son, had a great time in what he called the longest Daddy-Son-Day although he couldn't quite get up the courage to go for a fly with Slarti - maybe next year he said.

Well, that's it from me other then to say Thank You to the RAAus Board and especially Carol and Dave for making NatFly what RAAus is all about...getting together with others who have the passion of flying a recreational aircraft - the RAAus Members!

I certainly echo all your thoughts and sentiments Ian ... Natfly 2010 was by far the most successful event the RAAus has ever organised ... Well done and thanks to all who made the show such a goer ... I certainly feel that a museum involvement next year would go a long way to putting the icing on the cake as they say ... I'm so glad that Lachlan had such a great time too ..

I had a great time on Saturday. The whole show was really well organised and I even bought a kneeboard for nav training. Only problem was that my camera batteries decided to die on me just as I was in the middle of 'Merlin'.

I think it would be great to have a photo gallery next year, perhaps a competition.

(I can't believe I drove six hours and spent a night in Gundagai only to miss out on Dick Smith's talk. I should have looked at the program more closely. Aaargghhh!).

Well it was my first Natfly. I drove in for Saturday and I was pretty impressed. Don't know that I've ever seen that many aircraft in one place before! Like a kid in a candy shop was I. Dick Smith was a highight (sorry burbles1) and it was great to meet a few forumites.

And I also got to have a fly with one of the best known aviators in Australia....Tomo of course! Thanks again Tomo!

A big thank you to the organisers who worked so hard behind the scenes. It takes a lot of work to put together an event like Natfly. I had a bit to do with Carol (Cazza) who was always on the move doing several things at once. At midday on Saturday she was driving me in her golf cart, steering with one hand, trying to eat lunch (balanced on her knee) with the other, and explaining to me how to do a Mogas run at the same time. But she always had a smile on her face and a nice thing to say. Well done guys and girls!

It was pretty late before I remembered to take a few photos (the non-RAA a/c is Dick Smith departing in his Caravan)...

Peter
