FlyingVizsla Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hi Jim, Welcome on board! We have a couple of 95-10s, a Karasport and a Scout. Bubbleboy on this site is building a Pietenpol Air Camper - I have had a look at his website - he might be able to help you with sourcing parts. The people here are good friendly types so you should get plenty of help. Sue
Tomo Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 G'day Jim, as soon as I saw the "Old plane Nut" of your username I new you musta been some sort of LAME! What sort of aircraft did you used to work on? Welcome along and enjoy, at Temora I saw a CAP Wasp with the "V" tail and lawnmower engine. Was pretty cool, though I don't think I'd venture out on one! Have fun and keep safe.
Guest Decca Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Welcome to our forums, Jim. How many hours do you have up on these "olden" types? I can just see it now, all the packages arriving at your place with "AoG" stamped on them! Regards, Decca.
Guest Old_Plane_Nut Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 aircraft types worked on Sorry not to have replied sooner but had the Flu and then put my back out and couldnt sit at the computer. I've enjoyed a life of working on what now are described as vintage aircraft. I suppose that makes me vintage as well. The RNZAF had left overs from every other countries airforces in the world, from Sunderland flying boats, C47's ( military DC3's, we call them DAK's) Canberra bomber's, Vampire jets ( with wooden spars and bunjee cord trim tab system ) Harvards, Devons ( military version of the Dove ) Bristol Freighters ( 40,000 rivets flying in loose formation ) and more modern aircraft like the mighty Herc, the Orion submarine hunter, airtourers, Skyhawks and Helicopters. In my spare time I worked on other civilian aircraft mainly Tigermoths Lucky enough to have worked on them all and got trips all over the world. I got intrigued with the Flying flea and helped restore the one thats in MOTAT in Auckland. I built a Jabiru ( never again ) and rebuilt a Check AT3 I am restoring 2 1931 Clancy Skybabies, a replica 1934 HM14 Flying Flea, a 1950 HM293 Flying Flea and a Pteradactyl Ascender 11 I did hold a LAME ticket but I havent kept it up to date so its lapsed now Cheers Jim
