Ok, so I'm a whittle bit confused..... 031_loopy.gif.e6c12871a67563904dadc7a0d20945bf.gif

I'm filling out my Student pilot License form and it has this question to answer:

2.3 Security Check Requirements -

Please select the option below that applies to you (at the time the license is to be issued)

# I am under 18 yrs of age and a security check is not required

OR

# I hold a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) issued by CASA - see below if you got your ASIC before you turned 18.

# I hold a valid Aviation Identification Card (AVID) issued by CASA

# I hold a valid ASIC NOT issued by CASA and a certified copy is attached

# I DO NOT hold a valid ASIC/AVID and an application is attached to this application

Note: If your current ASIC was issued before you turned 18, and you will be more than 18 yrs and 3 months when your application is processed, you will only be eligible to apply for a license if you have applied for a new ASIC before you reach 18 yrs and 3 months. Otherwise your ASIC will have been cancelled.

I hold an ASIC card that has been issued by RAAus, and it expires end of this month (got the new application form and notice today)

So do I answer the 'valid asic but not issued by casa, and supply certified copy' {not sure what they mean by certified copy either} question?

Or the last one, and give them the application form, even if it's RAAus? Or do I have to fill out a CASA one?

The thing is, I have a valid ASIC till the end of this month - renewing it asap - what do they mean by certified copy? is it a photo copy of my ASIC ??

I also got my ASIC before I turned 18....!??!?

Thanks

To get a certified copy, you get a photocopy made then take the photocopy and the original to a lawyer or a cop or a JP and get them to certify (sign) that the copy is a copy of the original.

I just generally go down to the cop shop :)

Take it to a JP or Commissioner for Declarations at a Council office or other office (real estate, bank etc). They will photocopy it and endorse the copy "I hereby certify that this is a true copy of an original which I have sighted" date, sign, stamp and number the copy (and charge you for a photocopy). This makes the job easier for them than having to compare original to photocopy before certifying.

Easy done Tomo, go into town, get the photos done at the (Milnes) photograhers, have the other documents you require with you, photocopied including old ASIC..get the photos(takes about 15mins and $12..) then go into the courthouse and get them all validated as true copies....walk outside and go next door to the post office..chuck everything in an envelope and send registered mail to ID Aus...then wait patiently for your new asic..031_loopy.gif.e6c12871a67563904dadc7a0d20945bf.gif

If you read the supporting documentation there are quite a few people who can certify it for you, it's explained in the bit about how to fill out the form. You might find people around the airport who can certify it for you.

Meanwhile, fill in your ASIC renewal and get that underway!

So, I'll go and get the JP to sign it (couple local ones fortunately), and get it sorted.

Sssh.... I said it was a secret! 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif006_laugh.gif.d4257c62d3c07cda468378b239946970.gif

If you asked me though, I'd find popping the lock on a BMW easier than understanding some of these forms!! 040_nerd.gif.a6a4f823734c8b20ed33654968aaa347.gif
