Suppliers and Service

Hi all. I have been discussing with Ian about advertising on this site for services and he is intending on running a section in the forums called Suppliers and Service (It is already there).

 

As a provider I think it is a great idea. But I am interested in other forums members views. Good or bad?

The small cost for this is just $1 a day. I have opened a separate bank account where this money will go into and the hosting company will make auto debits from this account each month for the site hosting. This won't at least break even till we get around 10 advertisers.

 

So those that advertise in the Suppliers & Services forum will be paying to keep the site hosted for you all.

 

The First Class member payments will now go directly to me for the work that goes into the site - probably means I get about 2c (inc gst) and hour

 

The shop proceeds pay for site improvements, site licenses and axillary costs like NatFly, monthly advertising. product subsidies etc (just had first bad debtor of $399 )

 

I can't be any more up front and honest then that so I hope you don't think this site is commercial in any way and that any person is really gaining a commercial advantage from it.

 

The other thing the Suppliers & Services forum will do is hopefully stop anyone trying to use the site to push their products without contributing something towards it. If they do they will be seen by the users in an even worse light for trying - this was the first driver in why the forum was established.

 

So please try in any way you can to support those that are helping to keep this site as great as it is and even growing further

I think it's a good thing.

 

From a buyer's perspective, I like the idea that I can get some info about a product and feel there's an element of trust in dealing with a fellow forumite. (Plus, we can hassle you for 'mates rates'. )

 

From a small business side of things;

 

The amount of advertising 'offers' we get is astounding! Beer coasters in pubs. A sign on some unrelated club's noticeboard. A display ad buried in some obscure publication we've never heard of before. Never get any feedback from the advertising dollars spent! (until they try to sell you another package. :baldy:)

 

At a buck a day, I was thinking of seeing if it would work for my biz, even though it's not an overly aviation related one. ...is there a market for expensive keys in aeroplanes?

sounds like a great idea as long as the products cover the hole spectrum of recriational aviation not just accesories for say fixed wing air craft. and the like other wise +1 good idea:score 010:

Sorry Ian I think it is a brilliant idea to be able just to come onto the site & have things you may need in one place a whole lot easier than trying to figure out where to start looking.

Its very great and nice idea to put a section as Suppliers and Services to provide everyone about all the services they need. Thanks for this implementation
