FlyingVizsla Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Here's a thought - Have breakfast at Childers hosted by the Isis Flying Club at 7:30 (see events calendar) then on to competition in Gympie.
wags Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 Co-ordination needed Sue, all the clubs in the area need to get together to co-ordinate days for Club events. The same day we see Maryborough hosting a luncheon fly-in and you at Childers also have a breakfast morning. Can you get in touch with the Gympie Aero Club Secretary at [email protected] so we can all co-ordinate for next year - in fact for the rest of this year. If we all support each others events it can only help promote recreational aviation to a better degree. There is a huge active recreational flying community around here and we all have the flying bug! Let's get together. Wags.
FlyingVizsla Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 We are "absent members" as we live about 7 hours drive from Childers but our Secretary is a forum member, as are a number of other Club members. We did get to the January meeting where the date and bones of the event were finalised and flyers were to go out to all clubs after that, (I got one after a bit of prompting in March) but I do agree that there should be a bit more co-ordination. Notice it is mainly the women who think to do this? The unintended outcome is that flyers can breakfast at Childers, compete at Gympie and lunch at Maryborough. We can't make it due to work committments, but we wish all three clubs well. Sue
Guest becky1 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Big day at Gympie, Sunday 16th For all those Aviators out there who like to make last minute decisions where to fly too,the comp day day at YGYM tomorrow is looking at this stage to be a very big event with both GA and RAA competing for trophies and prizes. We have aero clubs sending teams, individuals competing and aircraft from Drifters to Cessna 401s having a go at the flour bombing[CASA approved] to glide approach and spot landing plus taxying comps which will really sort out the men from the boys. A sausage sizzle is on all day, plus there is a Trash and Treasure market on at the airfield as well. So if you are within flying distance come in and either compete or watch and enjoy the activities. See you there Jennifer
