Hi,my name is Steve and I'm learning to fly a Jab J160 at the Sport Aviation Academy in Wyalkatchem about 200km east of Perth. It's a great place to learn as there are no hills, great weather most of the year and almost no other traffic to worry about.Cheers -Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to our forums.

Sounds like an idyllic place to learn to fly.

I have only 3 hrs on the Jabiru so far.The runway has not been completed as yet and the funds to complete it are still uncertain. It is currently usable as a dirt strip though.

G'day Steve,

Welcome from another Perth member.

I'm wondering if the 1964 in your handle is an indicator of your year of birth?

If it is then you and I are from the same year and taking up flying at the same age.

Wish I'd done it years ago.

I'd considered the Aviation Academy in Wylie - they sound pretty well organised - however decided to stay closer to home and for the time being I'm learning at Jandakot.

Cheers

Mick

G'day Mick, yeah we are the same age. I kind of wish I had taken it up a bit earlier, but then again GPS wasn't invented in those days :-) Cheers-Steve

Hi Steve and Mick,

I was born in 1960 and only took it up 15 months ago. I wish someone had shown me the light when I was a lot younger.

Welcome to the site. there is a lot of great people and info on here if you want it.
