Vev Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 G'day Ross, Yes I did fit the K liners and it all seems to work as advertised ... I have done 42 hrs on them so far and all is very good, in fact my oil consumption is almost nil now. However I did also replace the rings and gave the bores a light hone too. I also changed the out the push rods and rockers for the new hollow type, which also allowed me to blank off the oil feed gallery and turned to old rocker chest oil feed "T" piece into a breather .. I think this also helps keep things cooler in the rocker chest owing to better drain back of oil to the sump. Cheers Vev
slartibartfast Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Excellent. Thanks Jack. I'm leaning toward new rings and a hone too. If the compression is improved by stopping guide leakage, the rings will be under more pressure anyway. It might hasten their wear.
Guest 4aplat Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi if your serial is between #2068 and #3094 changing the valves is just a solution for the next 400 hours the only solution is to change push-roads + camshaft + lifters + valves and guides as the problem is they (jab) use a mechanical camshaft with hydraulic push-roads (the valves are open too many times as theres is no gap between camshaft and push-roads) a friend of mine changed his valves with VW golf (rabbit ?) one comments are in French and English http://jabiru-engine-inspect-400.blogspot.com/ MicheL
