turboplanner Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Thanks Trish, certainly shows the tragic, human side of this.
dunlopdangler Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 we see it on the six o'clock news but reading that story really makes the tragedy of it all hit home...very sad
Zenaroo Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Questions Does anybody know where I can see the coroner's report for this accident? The paper says the investigation is over, but said no more about findings. However it does sound like those corroded parts made the "snap" noise resulting in structural failure. P.S. Michael is my beloved nephew. Ray
turboplanner Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Ray, the Coroner is yet to consider the facts. My reading of the newspaper report is that the Police have done what they can, a local Magistrate felt that more technical information was required, so he has called for a more expert brief. That might mean an aviation specialist going over the evidence again, then producing a report for the Coroner. Then the Coroner conducts the Inquest. My recommendation is for the family to contact the State Coroner, and ask to be kept informed of progress (I'd be surprised if that didn't happen anyway). It's from the Cornoner that you'll really find out the cause of death. The rest of us are speculating, which is healthy for preventing other accidents, but very painfull for the family.
Guest trishok Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Coronial Inquiry: The degree of survival is equal to the angle of arrival.... was my grandson Michael's signature motto. Now that the Lismore Coroner has requested a brief of evidence by an aviation expert for an inquest, not simply a ruling that these deaths occurred as the result of a tragic accident. It is painful for the family but it is also necessary for the family to know and accept the truth of the matter, and part of the grieving process insists that every detail be examined. Nothing can bring those two vibrant young men back, they will never learn from hindsight, but I am hoping that the findings will prevent further needless deaths in the recreational flying community, and after all, this would be the aim of the coronial inquiry. Thankyou Turboplanner, dunlopdangler and BlackRod for your kind remarks. Please do not stifle discussion and speculation just because you know family members are observing. I appreciate this forum. Trish

Trish Thanks Trish, appreciate your time also. Having met Mike the week before and being offered to take the aircraft for a flight, then hearing this news, it all hit pretty hard. He has taught me a lesson, something unfortunatly I can't thank him for now.
Guest trishok Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Thankyou Tomo, I have been following this forum and another one that you post on, from a couple of days following the tragedy. I have appreciated reading your posts and your common sense. I would love to have contact privately about your conversations at Inglewood with Michael, if you are willing. Best wishes to you Trish
