Kctoothman Posted June 4, 2017 Many happy and also frustrating hours building and flying my VP2. A safe and stable flyer, with fantastic ground handling courtesy of the all flying tail. My last flight in her 8/10/2004. Delivered to the new owner in Childers, Qld.
Methusala Posted June 4, 2017 Gooday Toothman, My VP2 also safe and stable- also heavy on the ailerons and not strong in the climb. Built in the 70's by Chris Leon, an engineer who flew less than 10 hrs in her. Sold her to a Melbourne member of SAAA who did a lot of work including having a redesigned U/C with rubber donuts replacing the cable stays. I flew for 11 years (550hrs) finally stopping in 2006. Sold the wings to another pilot who wrecked his with engine failure out of Wedderburn (Posa carb). Fly a Kitfox and Thruster now. Had a lot of fun and flew to Narromine, Mangalore, Temora, Moruya and many other places. I also built the turtle deck from plywood, oregan stringers and fabric. Improved the airflow over the tail giving greater rudder authority and eliminating the dutch roll. Cheers don
Kctoothman Posted June 6, 2017 [uSER=321]@Methusala[/uSER] thanks for the reply. Built and flew mine in Qld.first flight 18/4/96 by me as VH-XNX later ,19-3742 Revmaster 2100 . My VP was modelled off the Neil Stevenson VP from Wedderburn, in fact I had the canopy mold from him. Flew it to Narromine in 2003. My last flight was October 2004,delivered to Childers Qld. I have pics but don't know how to post. Cheers Ken.
