  1. There maybe an argument that in a low wing you sit in the pivot point as the high wing you are dangling below the pivot. point??
  2. Folding your map nice and small in a tri-fold config and keep turning it over may help. I use a tri-fold folder that has two clips (landscape shape) and I have the map on the left side and the flight plan on the right, you can then put copies of the airstrip details and all your other details inside the folder within easy reach. It will get easier.
  3. Why are Jabs so damn hard to fly???? I did my conversion to RAA in a Jab230 and I reckon that you only have to look at the size of the ailerons to get your first clue. At 120kts they are great but at 65kts you need to be fairly busy with your feet.
  4. If you have an alternative static source maybe try that. If not and the plumbing is ok maybe the instrument needs to be checked.
  5. Yep I will be there on the Sunday. Have booked a couple of grandstand seats. Not sure about dress at this stage, will wait and see what the weather forecast is first.
  6. f22raptor Having a look at your profile. Were did you dig uo a Cessna 173?
  7. I have a excel spreadsheet that I made to help a mate make a decision on buying an aircraft. If you like I can email it to you. Not sure how to post it. I think he made the right choice.
  8. There is only one answer to this to this bull*## don't land at Murray Field, just bypass until they get the message. Busselton much more friendly anyhow. PS I am not from this area.
  9. Maybe this 172 needs to go back over the scales. Older aircraft get lots of extras tacked on over the years but maybe not into the log book.
  10. Try and clear your ears before you change altitude. Once your ears start to hurt the pressure has all ready built up and it's to late. Maybe need to see your GP if all else fails it maybe a sinus problem.
  11. I would have thought that this was poor airmanship as the aircraft on final has right of way at all times.
  12. Protec Hearing Have a pair of ear plugs from this guy for pistol shooting, but I see on his web site that they do have headsets as well. May be worth a call (Lex Shipp 0894483700). Not shore how they will go in the tropics as even the the ordinary headset can give you some grief if you don't use the cloth covers. Hope this helps
  13. G'day Bret Great to see another RAA pilot for WA. There has been a few changes in RAA since 15 years ago that you will enjoy. Have been involved in GA for a few years but only 17 months in RAA. Hope it go's well for you and enjoy this fantastic site Phil
  14. I have been flying for 25 years and I know that flying low feels fantastic but there are some rules that we should all follow. First of al you should be checked out by a competent instructor. Flying low over a property without permission is asking for trouble (illegal). Horses, Cattle, sheep and other stock will shift fences. I have been involved in mustering so have seen this. The other very important aspect of low flying is that there is lots of very solid things that you can hit and this will take all the fun out of low flying. Who cares if it is legal or not lets stay alive and enjoy a fantastic recreation.
  15. 1000' is ok but it's not AGL. It's 1000' above the highest point of the terrain or the gliding thing.
