  2. I am thinking about bringing back the Never Ending Story to Recreational Flying. For those that don't know what it is, it is a single thread with users adding posts that add to the previous post but leaves the end of their post open to someone else to reply to thus creating a never ending story. If you would like to have a look at it, it is at: https://www.whatsupaustralia.com.au/threads/the-never-ending-story.510/ It sort of died down when I moved the Off Topic funnies over to the Off Topic site Whats Up Australia. It is a real laugh as almost anything goes and most often it is a funny did at another user who then replies and on it goes. So what do you think, should we move it back to here at Recreational Flying, keep it aviation related as much as possible (if that's even possible at all)? In fact I know I have asked this before but is it even worth bringing the whole Off Topic section back in a very cut down version of Sport, Auto/Bikes and General Off Topic?
  3. Hopefully you will have now noticed that the new theme has been turned on thanks to @Ahmed Zayed having fixed the sub menu issue with it. Hope you like it...the site, I think, is not only going well but now also looks good and there is still a lot more to come in creating the one single overall respository of information to help all aviators...please let all your flying colleagues know
  4. I am sitting here at the hospital emergency as Caitlin has badly cut her hand and needs stitches so I started reading the NES again and started cracking up laughing about the Thruster on the conveyor belt and the people here are all looking at me strange
  5. Not that I recall, I think the first one about the conveyor belt was around 2006 and because it went on for memory some 50 to 60 pages of posts I came up with the Never Ending Story idea...that is a classic if any users have not read it...it is over on the Whats Up Australia site and it is laugh after laugh...it's up to 518 pages of posts (13,000 posts) now https://www.whatsupaustralia.com.au/threads/the-never-ending-story.510/
  6. No problems mate...post away and get the brains turning over but watch out for the @facthunter as he will most likely come up with the answers straight away
  7. I think we have 2 options here...1. would be to have multiple choices of an answer that a user can select which they believe is the correct one (which can be 1 question in a group of questions in a single quiz in the Quizzes Section) or 2. it could be a discussion thread which can be created in the Student Pilot & Further Learning forum. For example in the forum scenario we have had a question asked twice about Lift with last time some 11 years ago: and we had around 225 posts in that thread so single educational questions that provoke thought and discussion are greatly appreciated when posted in there
  8. I work in setting up and/or managing PMOs (Project Management Office), ensure governance is applied to projects including development of frameworks and methodologies...or even just going back to Project/Program Management
  9. Can you send me an example so I can look at how we can do it
  10. You don't have to if you don't want to...you could either add them in yourself or provide me with the questions, the answers and if you want multiple choice answers then the different options and which one is the correct one
  11. Well that will do then and I can set them up. Just purchased the software
  12. SOLD, we have a new Quiz Master...thanks @Manwell I will be in touch in a day or 2 after I purchase the software and install it. Here are some screen shots of it:
  13. Nobody pays me and I'm not retired...just another currently unemployed bum desperately seeking a new job before I have to visit the Salvos for a care package
  14. Hi All Recreational Flying (.com) provides an important service to all aviators and as the site is growing we need a couple of staff to help manage a site feature for everyone. Currently we are looking for 2 volunteers who who would love to help in: 1. Quiz Master - a person that would enjoy creating aviation related quizzes in the new Quiz section. You could create any number of quizzes that you may like for example on BAK, aviation history, emergency reactions, human factors, aircraft histories etc etc etc 2. Event Manager - a person who would like to keep the Event Calendar updated by entering different aviation events from sources on the internet (I can provide one) and any posts in the forums that mention an event. All those that help the site for everyone else are made First Class Members and have access to a private helpers forum plus they any special pricing from the Clear Prop shop and don't forget the extreme enjoyment one gets by helping all their fellow aviators Please let me know if you could spare a little time to help out...it would be greatly appreciated
  15. Thanks however I have had to change it back till Ahmed can look at it as the sub menu isn't showing and that is tied to the main menu which Ahmed developed. Give it a couple of days and it should be back
  16. 17. Sport and recreational rules milestone - Part 149 commences The regulation of sport and recreational aviation passed an important milestone on 14 July – with the commencement of the first aviation regulation specifically designed for the sector. Part 149 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR) introduces a broad and flexible regulatory framework for sport and recreational organisations who administer certain aviation activities. Sport and recreational aviation self-administration has existed in Australia operating under a range of regulatory exemptions, going back, in some cases for more than 60 years. For the first time, the regulations now recognise those organisations who administer sport and recreational aviation and approved organisations will be issued with a Part 149 Approved Self-Administering Organisation (ASAO) Certificate from CASA. CASA will begin assessing transition applications for Part 149 Certificates in the coming weeks, with two organisations advising they are nearing completion of their exposition. For further information: Manual of Standards (MOS) for CASR Part 149 Approved Self-Administering The Part 149 application form for transitioning ASAOs The Part 149 application form for new ASAOs The compliance matrix CASR Part 149 page on CASA’s website. Any questions: [email protected].
  18. I have just added this back into the Classifieds...hope that is ok
  19. Thanks for letting me know about this...It should be fixed now
  20. The Thread Post # has been added to posts in the top right hand corner of each post. T%his enables a user to be able to make reference to a specific post # within the thread if they don't specifically need to Quote the contents of the post
  21. Yes it is, I will look into it
  22. The weekly email update is hopefully coming back. I purchased an addon to provide this however it is not working properly and has bugs...ripped off again...but anyway I am trying and hopefully this week I will get something happening to send out a weekly newsletter
  23. The coding for the new Aircraft Section is completed and waiting for @red750 to approve before I copy across all the previous Aircraft Section entries so that is looking good and will serve as the same look and feel for other sections of the site like Famous Aviators etc. There are two things that I have started threads on asking for your input before I can continue with them: Site Menu Structure proposal Site overall theme - Pick one Can you help by having a look at these two and adding your vote/comments...thanks
  24. As we progress through things it is worth considering an overall site theme i.e. colours, fonts etc. I asked @Ahmed Zayed for his recommendations and he suggested a packaged solution. Ahmed did develop the Xenforo look-a-like theme which you can see at: https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/9156-provision/ However he has also suggested one of the themes at: https://www.ipsfocus.com/themes/ with my family picking the Elegant theme, I picked the Novus theme and Ahmed suggested the Shift theme. This is extremely important as the site is just basically white with a little blue so, what do you recommend from those above? Oh and don't forget we will still use the side column menu system we have now
