  1. Personally, I think the structure of Aviation does not show very many shining lights, anywhere right now. RAAus hierarchy were formally invited to attend SAAA Fly In, if they don’t turn up? That will be interesting.
  2. It won’t…….the cat is out of the bag to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, read RAA ‘money’ I would like to be a fly on the wall at the SAAA Flyin 🤩
  3. Word has it at the SAAA Fly IN that RAAUS members are jumping ship everywhere 🤩 GO VH, they said, AND they are.🤩
  4. First we need a foot in the door and adopting the U.S. FAA FAR Part 103 regime as it stands, is the answer. IF it can be proven to work here, THEN work on changes, the RAA principle of 760 MTOW is an example. in our case, we don’t want RAA near any Part 103 system here, CASA must administer the Part 103 to start with. The RAA model has worked for it except now it wants to be GA with slick aircraft cost and complexity. The structure of RAA is wrong, I was changed with a vested interest of making money and increasing to cost of flying in the Aviation segment it administers. It forgotten where it came from……
  5. I am bothered when I see RAAUS staff on the part 103 technical working group which leads me to believe there will be a conflict of interest in the outcome of that working group which will not favour part 103 in any way? It’s come to the point where I may need to make a complete, direct submission to CASA in support of trying to establish an FAA FAR Part 103 aviation segment in Australia. My recommendation, that it would be not in any way be part of the RAAUS umbrella.
  6. RAA will do anything they can to squash anything to do with any part 103 like existence in Australia I would even question the fact of those staff members are actually on the technical working group because they have vested interest not to see part 103 type operation in Australia ever
  7. Not much hope for us here when you see our RAA staff members on the technical working group for part 103 listed in Casa documentation. RAA will be doing their best to shoot the concept down.🤢
  8. But it nice and shiny, with lovely glossy pages produced at great cost 🤢 The membership pays?
  9. I have been giving a lot of thought to this and made a possible plan for myself. IF Part 103 looks like never happening in Australia. I would sell all my aircraft and any associated equipment and get out of aviation in Australia. Then I would travel to the US, buy a FAA FAR Part 103 aircraft and a trailer for it. Since I have many friends in the US I would have a place to store it. Then simply spend the money flying to the US for four weeks at a time probably four times a year and have an aviation holiday each trip and fly with thousands of like-minded happy FAR part 103 owners. And forget Australia. NO RAAus, NO numbers, No licence and NO bullsh1t. I have to get rid of the inheritance somehow, I don’t wanna leave any behind 🤩
  10. AND note the names of RAAus staff members on that Working Group? I would allege collusion for nefarious purposes?
  11. ANYTHING to do with Aviation in Australia costs money and getting WORSE 🤢 I am seeing what I can find out, I have has personal msgs and phone calls asking me questions and giving information. this might get interesting 🤩
  12. They have lost their way, they advertise the latest plastic fantastic aircraft, they want to be GA and have forgotten where thy came from🤩 See pic, and they probably would like to see aircraft pictured, in a museum…..
  13. Subject says it all 🤩 Part 103 is documented by CASA here: https://www.legislation.gov.au/F1998B00220/latest/text/3 I need to research this and see WHERE the U.S. FAA FAR Part 103 compares ? A submission MAY be recognised by CASA in light of what is happening at RAA right now. The idea being to reestablish AUF freedoms previously held. We have modern, safe airframes available that can be imported here, we have Drifters and Thrusters capable of being reclassified for approved training aircraft for the Part 103 aviation sector, all administered by CASA, outside of RAA. What is not to like.🤩 Right now, if we don’t ask the question, we won’t get an answer.
  14. In some cases, RAAus Flying Schools latest aircraft are unsuitable for RPC training, due to increasing complexity, glass instrumentation. I did my first 18 hours training in a basic Foxbat, a weekend hire pilot bent it, out of service for months of repairs. School replaced the Foxbat with a Sting. It was COVID time, as well. i was told I had to resume training in the new aircraft. I was in 6 hours credit for lessons, I said it’s too complex for me to fly, I was 72 years old at the time. I was refused a refund. I did my own assessment as to my ability to learn the new aircraft, it was too slick for me, at my age. Sadly, that aircraft crashed into the sea, 2 months ago and my 18 hour instructor went with it 🤢 along with right seat instructor with him, both now deceased 🤢WHY? Be no RAAus investigation, on the crash with 2 RAA instructors. Some of the newer RAAus training aircraft are not suitable, due to their complexity ? Just like putting L plates, on a Ferrari for drivers licence training.
  15. MORE governance will be the beginning of the end 🤢. Think back to the AUF days and the freedom it once had? RAAus now want to be the new GA?
  16. But I would have to say the pressure will be on, public opinion will be part of that. Not to mention the general publicity, amongst the wider community?

  18. https://youtu.be/BuSjs45TL1E?si=O1BcnWjSlOIVx58k There is no doubt about it, the FAA FAR Part 103 pilots take their responsibilities rather professionally in the U.S. Videos like this are very informative. The more I see, the more I like 🤩
  19. It’s a money making process for RAAus, I wanted to do a BRP fitting, to my Aeropup, 19 reg, had all factory information but had to pay money to do MARAP an hope it got approved? Abandoned whole thing, bought wearable Parachute, now I can exit stage left, pull cord….bye bye aircraft 👍👍
  20. I passed my opinion as relating to my personal risk assessment, given my age, experience and ability. I mean if an agreement is reached to allow the neighbour to fly? Then down the track the neighbour may think, I need to get another plane, a BIG red one, widda wireless that plays ‘Slim Dusty’ 🤩 Guess what? He needs a BIGGER airstrip, so he moves OR Hangar's his plane elsewhere?
  21. Personally, I would not operate from that airstrip. I would have bought a more suitable place to fly from, that house is too close for my liking. The risk element is probably not that great, but its one I would not be happy with.

  23. The topic title says it all. Just cast your eyes around our aviation sector right now and you will see tightening regulations, increase cost to hanger fees, and cost to operate your aircraft, lack of ability to modify or do anything with it. A shortage of hangers, face a shortage of airstrip space, medical situations which will ultimately stop you flying sooner than later. And as you watch the end enjoyment of your hobby disappear with all of this coming in on top of us, you will no longer be able to fly and this is not gonna get any better. RAAus has increasingly tightened the sector since the days of the AUF, unfortunately it’s almost like a mini GA, or worse. An increase in regulations is making it more difficult for compliance by many aircraft and pilots.. Well, you can all sit on your hands and watch it disappear or you can get off your collective backside and try and do something about it and make representations to political ministers and anyone else who will lend an ear for our cause. For years in the US, the FAA has sanctioned FAR part 103 segment of the US aviation flying scene. Part 103 has seen massive increases in training opportunities. A Burgening aircraft market for people who are unable to meet the requirements either medically, for RAA, GA and have Aircraft, or air strips or hanger availability. They can still fly Part 103.by going to the U.S. All they they need is a trailer to cart their aircraft to a suitable location and they can all fly, if they want to go that way. The way things are now if you can’t fly for any reason you are out of the aviation sector as it exists the most you’ll ever do is make paper planes to fly across your lounge room. If we had part 103 you would still be in the sky flying yes a little slower yes a little lower but you’d still be having fun flying in the sky. So yes, Australia needs an FAA FAR part 103 type system here for aviation to prosper for people young and old, in Australia. See here:
  24. The only passenger I will ever take would be an Instructor, I never want the responsibility of taking an ordinary PAX.
