    Just take a look at Aviation, we have the most broken down rules in the World, holding back Aviation in Australia because the peak bodies and Govt egos are so big, you would not get over them in a U2 Spy Plane 😞. And Aviation is just one sector amongst many in this country…….

    IF they are too lazy to work out funding, then there is no hope of getting anything done. All they want to do is sit at computers and go left click BUY 10 submarines from somewhere, same when buying planes, even shovels. Too lazy to get off our backsides and make anything except a few Bushmasters etc, at least the Ukrainians like us 🙂. I watched our Council take 6 months to build a roundabout in Rockhampton, in the process they ripped it up twice. Sorry, lost the faith in this country 😞

    They have had many years to get this together, I remember all the arguments in the middle 70s when I was doing Army service at Moorebank, Sydney. This country is hopeless at building ANYTHING…..

    Large fuel customers should be supplied by rail and the local storage should be quite some distance from the users facility for safety reasons.

    Yesterday, I attended a flight planning course that was organised as impromptu thing, we had 15 or so attendees, it was organised by a local CFI/L4. The course was great for me, but there were a lot side discussions over smoko and lunch etc. I was able to buy some CASA publications that another Instructor brought along. The. conversations were cordial and not curmudgeonly in any way. Not so sure it would be like that if RAAus were involved…. This is my style for learning new things 🙂

    I am not relying on RAAus to keep me safe, that responsibility is up to ME 🙂 IF I have doubts, I ask questions to experienced pilots, not just ONE but any I come in contact with. Between what I learn and examples of other peoples experiences and the studies I do, help me a lot.

    Sadly I have to say, the more I hear of RAAus, the less respectful I have become 🙂 We should all look up to the peak body that should have the best interests of it members at heart. I am not so sure it has anymore, from the people I speak to. We have moved so far from AUF it’s almost unbelievable 😞

    25 years ago I had a cable break at 400ft on the same 1.7km strip and managed a land straight ahead with no problem. The glider was a Blanik.

    Fortunately, the grass strip for the testing is 1.7km long gliding field which is good, with a big paddock off the end of the strip.

    Not a snowflakes chance in h**l I owned a Chinese Motorcycle import business a number of years ago, at least when a bike blew up, you could jump off and walk, bit hard at 5000ft. I would not take one of those engines for a gift as my tinny does not need a new anchor 🙂

    Yes, got it Nev, along with radiators and all pipe work. The muffler has an added silencer as well.

    Subject says it all! My new 582 has arrived today after 8 months since ordering. Total cost delivered was around $14,800 complete with everything from prop hub to flywheel. Probably one of the most expensive 582s ever made🙂

    Your last sentence says the stupidness of it all 😞. A subsequent owner from the original builder cannot work on the 19 rego aircraft? IF the subsequent owner has the full documentation for the relevant aircraft, WHY should they not be allowed to work on it? Sorry but you can guess my opinion on this requirement, I do my best work…..after midnight 🙂

    Still does not stop you flying a FAR Part 103 machine in stealth mode with NO licence NO rego and NO RAaus 🙂

    You are not wrong, it’s all about control…..nothing less. I champion the FAA FAR Part 103 regime in the U.S. Nowadays good airframes and good training at low cost. Call it Foundation Aviation if you like 🙂. With some RAaus training costs North of $300 per hour in flash planes, it becoming out of reach for many. People I have spoken to, are one way or the other…..Pilots falling out of the sky in droves, OR bring it on 🙂. Turn clock back to AUF days, but with better training and aircraft. What’s not to like for budget, fun loving Aviators?

    For many, it’s not about money……I had big business opportunities offered to me IF I agreed to move to the U.S. I declined as I have never been about swimming pools, movie stars and fast cars. I have happily lived in the bush doing the things I enjoy. Money is not everything in this life. So long as you can enjoy yourself, buy some food etc. I built a new house 15 years ago and the builder specced in a dishwasher, I said WHY……you are talking to the ‘dishwasher’ 🙂

    They would sell more aircraft IF they offer it as reasonable priced factory build or a near completed factory build…….many of us don’t have enough life left to home build and fly, before we die 😞

    And sadly RAA Flying Schools @ $300 plus per hour are pricing themselves out of business, one has just closed at Gympie that charged that money, THEN the Council lumped them with $13.20 per landing but as many as you like for the next hour only. So, everyone that benefited from that Flying School has lost out, including Council. Will the future of RAA Flying Schools stand the coming inflation and interest rates? Only IF they choose to run lower budget aircraft from ALAs? Our future may not be so rosy unless people get creative…….
