  1. Not to mention FLARM and ADS-B don’t work together in Australia where in Europe they do? Also, nearly all gliders are primarily white in colour, sometimes rather hard to see……
  2. Try riding motorcycles in a city environment……stress level wise I would be better off flying.
  3. My related condition report I complained about, was on a plane that was about as airworthy as a 3 wheeled billycart, would be roadworthy.
  4. When an RAA employee told me, they did not care IF I used Blue Tack to stick the wings on my plane…….when querying a condition report…….that was the end of it for me……. There are good people in that organisation, then there are some not so good……
  5. In which case I will take future RAAus videos with a grain of salt? Bit sad really. While it’s appreciated that RAaus did the video in good faith, the content appears to be a little wanting.
  6. Only way to test a Thruster with a 582, works for me with a snatch strap secured to a Landcruiser bullbar 🙂

Sometime a thread can suffer severe ‘yaw’ so long as it does not stall then spin 🙂
  9. Don, Sadly I am late to the aviation ‘party’ I will get a little fun from it before EOL but being the Dinosaur that I and many others are, I wonder if Aviation as a hobby will simply die in Australia? I am a member of EAA in the U.S. and all I see is them going ahead and bounds. I joined AOPA here and tried to get them interested in the promo area for young people etc. Gave up as they did not care, busy junketing about saving airports is their deal. Banging on about Bankstown etc, that is a lost cause. They got angry when I did not renew my membership. Whilst I am still messing about with my Thruster and Aeropup, I now have a J-230D that actually flies and needs nothing done to it, except jettisoning its Microair radio 🙂 Jack.
  10. Motorcycle riding experience teaches you the same…..
  11. I need to fill in aircraft details etc?
  12. Sad the the video turned out this way 😞. Obviously not proof checked for accuracy by a reputable person with knowledge. RAAus need to step up their game and the first thing would be to fix the video probably and re release ASAP, making sure the original is buried forever…….
  13. Fortunately I have time to scout the area looking for elements of danger, in an Emergency you don’t have that luxury, but guide posts are not a risk to high wing aircraft, unlike road sighs which are far and few between in central and far west Qld.
  14. Having a look in my J-230D yesterday. mentally measuring up for a rudimentary bed in it. Since I will be flying remote areas mostly, just look out for a dirt road I can land on, taxi off the road safely, park for the night, fire up next morning and fly away. 🙂 Who needs an airstrip?
  15. The video is supported by RAA with the already documented errors, they are our peak body AND regulator? Yet, IF they catch us stuffing up anywhere, they are happy to ream us 😞. Over time I have been involved with Aviation, have heard many stories, some from multiple sources about some past history etc, that have been nasty to certain people who have simply want to enjoying flying. Seems like they at times have been like dogs with bones, they want the last chew. 😞
  16. The less knowledge you have, the harder it is to sift the wheat from the chaff, personally I like American videos case histories and podcasts…….greater amounts of quality wheat……… 🙂
  17. Whilst I cant do a thing to my 24 rego J-230D, got to stay factory etc. I wondered IF water injection would be a bonus? Can’t see what not? Might be something the 19 rego owners could try?
  18. Well, here is the list of manufacturers for the FAA FAR Part 103 aviation sector in the U.S. These require NO licence to fly, AND NO requirement to register. Stupid Australia HAD a similar class in the AUF sector, but RAAus destroyed it. Now we have RPC with many Flying Schools charging North of $300 per hour for training, in fancy glass cockpit equiped aircraft. Most of the U.S. companies in the makers list, have overflowing order books, I have enquired with many and one of them offered me an agency. We need an equivalent FAR Part 103 aviation sector here….. https://bydanjohnson.com/part-103-ultralight-list/

  19. Subject says it all 😞 Our regulators and peak bodies are holding us back, when will they let go of their Egos and progress Aviation in Australia? https://inspire.eaa.org/youth/
  20. Good idea, have already done POH in A4 and A5, to carry in aircraft. A4 stays at hangar.
  21. I have decided to print one out, laminate it and put on my panel. Ned to make up my checklists and do same as a quick reference laminated little notebook, too. Committing checklists to memory is not a good idea, previous owner of my J-230 had one with aircraft, pretty dog eared now…….so it must have got some use.
  22. Subject says it all and the maker ships to Australia 🙂 Love one of these, America gets to have all the fun!! https://www.aeromarine-lsa.com/truelite/
  23. I know that I have to go through the process for my NAV but I thought it wise as an inflight reminder it would be a good idea. It will be probably a long time before I go on a trip requiring a lot of planning……..I will be just happy to junket around locally 🙂
  24. Would anyone know of a supplier for these please? Looking to fit to my instrument panel…..
  25. Based on my life’s experience many qualified people have been my worst nightmare, there is probably only a handful of people I would allow to work on my aircraft and NONE that I would trust to work on my cars. Todays diminishing care factor is becoming a major problem…….
