  1. I moved my Aeropup Gympie to Rockhampton, used my 3.5t car trailer with tyres at 15PSI, and breezed along at 80-90kmh. Kept an eye on the hinge point of the wings and had no damage problems. It hung over the back of the trailer a little, was passed by a few HWP Cars but not pulled over, they were probably happy I was driving steadily……
  2. Sorry, a product misspelling on my part, been using this stuff on Ham Radio antennas for years….
  3. Aluminox (sp) is your friend 🙂
  4. Glen, when will it be available?
  5. The Microair 760 was never a great radio and as far as I know there have be no design changes either, the business has changed hands but products are still the same. I am pedantic about radios and have simply decided to replace mine, then I know I am good to go, reliably.
  6. Thanks mucho Ian for the fix……will test it 🙂
  7. Go find an antenna analyser, NOT a SWR meter and sweep the Aviation Band and see where it is best resonant, hopefully on you rmost used frequencies. One of my first jobs when I get the Super Bin Chicken home, along with a NEW Becker radio, the MicroAir 760 will be replaced ASAP.
  8. I hope the pilot recovers OK, but suspect it will be a long road for him….. Fire is one of my greatest fears……

Sorry for dumb question but, what happens to 24 rego for your conversion?
  10. Today I bought the ‘Super Bin Chicken’ 🙂
  11. I am about to order an electronic unit for carbon monoxide detection, I think Clear Prop on this site has them?
  12. I will get stickers done “Super Bin Chicken” for each side of engine cowl and possibly a Bin Chicken itself with big wings for fuselage 🙂
  13. Subject says it all…..I need all the luck I can get 🙂. Road trip to look at, with intention to purchase a Super Bin Chicken J-230 Jabiru with 1400 hours TT on it as another addition to my ‘bird cage’ 🙂 It allegedly comes with good credentials etc. Crossing fingers for success!

Some time ago I was looking at this for my Rotax 80hp in the Aeropup. https://infinityaerospace.com/product/other/pre-oiler-and-back-up-engine-oil-pump/
  15. You can know all the regulations in the World, IF pilots don’t use the radios properly as is mandatory……then it just makes more pressure on other pilots. I have a big deal about radios, all my life starting in my Military days, and 30 years in the business as well. On top of that I have no desire to fly in/out of busy airports, will stick with bush ALAs and remote places, where possible. Upgrade my radio comms to the best I can have, use ADS-B ECD and fly carefully with my own risk assessments, maybe not totally to the regulations. Anyone for some full moon midnight VFR 🙂
  16. Some might say screw you, I have MORE engines and bigger wings than you 🙂
  17. I just posted MY opinion and some facts on a decision I made in respect of a situation. Call me wrong on it and I will try to do better ‘Chuck’ 🙂
  18. I am in the process of reading the document you posted….looks like good stuff. Understand this….rigidly abiding by regulations does not always work. Logic and commonsense are part of it. IF everyone uses a radio properly it makes it a whole lot easier, I tend to think some pilots consider their radio a brown snake, they don’t want to touch it. I had an instance where the Instructor got up me for what I did to avoid a situation to give an RPT 737 plenty of space on his straight in approach, I called an exit from my downwind at 30 deg and flew some orbits while he landed. Instructor said I had plenty of time to land ahead of him, I personally was not confident, so I did what I did…….in flying my orbits I i banked well aircraft well which exposed me better visually for others and myself, to see and avoid. After the RPT landed I rejoined the circuit. Was I wrong in the regulations? Don’t know, I simply did what I thought logical. I will listen all day to an experienced pilot as I need lots more knowledge than I have, I spend a lot of time studying but will never be perfect. Tell me I am wrong? Fine, I will try harder to be better…….
  19. You are dragging the whole thread out for your own perceived ‘win’. Just let me know when you are flying, I will stay on the ground that day 🙂
  20. Well its simple for me, IF I have any doubt about mine or other people safety in a circuit, I will just call exiting the circuit at say 30 deg and wait away with some orbits and rejoin when ready. I don’t care how long I am delayed…..it’s not a race to the ground.
  21. But forcing right of way can be disastrous on the road and in the sky and in this case no one crashed, just write it down to experience?
  22. Onetrack, I take on board what you say but the only thing it can fall on is any of our Wallabies around the place, IF that happens we will butcher it and eat it! Insurance? It won’t blow down the way I will build it, I spoke with an engineer and he simply dribbled on and on and what it would cost……. I just lost interest 🙂 Everything I have designed here has always worked with no trouble, In this case the steel supplier gave me a catalogue with all the specs for the material I am using so I am guided by that. I had a shed built here by a kit shed builder…….pulled him up because he short cutted, shed leaked like a sieve…..he did not care, got an inspection done on it, report documented problems. Went to the builder with it, he basically said a shed is not guaranteed waterproof and to get lost. I said I am off to my Solicitor……he changed his tune, cost him $5000 for a roofer to make good. So it’s DIY for me these days 🙂
  23. Pre flight stuff but there is more to come I believe 🙂
  24. Maybe I should do a build thread, I am engineering it all, based on some I have seen. Actually have 2 to build for separate locations, one in a cyclone area.
  25. Turbs, you just identified a serious short coming of RAaus to address the MET training. A very important part of flying. So maybe RAaus need to be pressured on this? Flight planning was my last club training day, I felt it was worthwhile and so did the other attendees. I am always hungry to learn, it’s been part of my whole life.
