    If Councils deleted Avdata, a lot more people would be happy to contribute landing fees knowing Councils got ALL the money. Avdata parasites contribute NOTHING to Aviation as I have said previously.

    Turbs, CASA are part of the regulatory organisation for Aviation……Whilst they may not be directly responsible on the subject in discussion, I am sure their ex CEO may have a few clues to look into it and see what process could be instigated with ASA?

    Maybe it’s time for RAAus to help justify its existence, now we have an ex CASA CEO……

    When I was training at Coffs, used to fly coastal South not above 1000 to the training area all the time and return. Mixing it with RPT traffic etc.

    It would be nice if the Councils were lobbied to get rid of Avdata and use a better method of managing fee collections to lower landing costs and see Councils get the fees direct, Aviators might feel a bit better about the whole thing without money grabbing Avdata parasites? being involved.

    I see no objection to reasonable landing fees, but when Avdata become involved, they want their cut and they provide NOTHING towards Aviation. They just rake off money, but only because Councils don’t want to directly manage a ratepayer asset.

    The student is being saddled with increasing costs, due to more fancy aircraft, briefing time charges not in hourly rate, then add landing fees and any other surcharges etc.The hourly training costs in many cases well exceed $300 per hour, RPC costs are rising fast and it can only hinder the sector and that is why I would like to see a lower cost Foundation Aviation regime as RAA is climbing towards GA costs. Add in the fact we are are not heading in to prosperous times in the future, either.

    The ‘wild days” ended over years ago. U.S. FAR Part 103 has been going nearly 40 years. IF the were too many fatalities the FAA would have shut it down years ago. There are great training regimes in place over most of the U.S. for aspiring Part 103 flyers. Also consider that over the years the quality of kits and motors has improved vastly. The sector is expanding so fast in the U.S. there is a many month backlog for kit orders. And, with the looming aluminium shortage it may become longer 😞 If RAAus are not interested, maybe its time for another peak body to be formed to administer the sector?

    A personal friend of mine in the U.S. has ordered one with a Hirth 23 engine, there is a 12 month wait. I checked with RAAus and they on the approved kit list here and can be done under 19 rego, not sure on the electric model. I got all the pricing on one and naturally more expensive than the 2 stroke powered ones. Can choose Hirth, Polini or MZ engines, naturally no more Rotax. They generally fly in the U.S. under the FAR Part 103 regime, no rego, no licence needed. Sure wish we had that category in Australia. A low budget entry point for Foundation Aviation. Australia is too dumb for something like that 🙂

    Don’t worry too much, the AFP are running low budget! They turned up a my house a few years back for a days questioning, arrived in a white rental Corolla. My first question was …….where is your black helicopter? Got budget restrictions have you? I would not worry too much…….they probably hunting the Extinction Rebellion super glue freaks, aviators have nothing to worry about.

    Air Services seem to be sitting on this for months, maybe they need to be called out for not updating the stake holders in reasonable time. Or, are they planning to just dump it on everyone at their leisure?

    Filled it out and gave comprehensive answers where asked and sent it…….worthless as it immediately edited most of my stuff out………waste of time 😞 Perhaps I need to send my information it left out, direct in an email to the CEO 😞

    And that’s why I think a condition report can be a con job, It should be an ‘airworthiness inspection report’ A condition report can see a flying death trap take to the sky, at worst.

    In other words, don’t trust ANYONE until you can prove otherwise. I thought ‘aviation’ was above many other industries etc. Well, the Broker I dealt with has left the same deceptive advert up for a month now? And the aircraft owner is a knowing participant. Makes it hard for any Broker who IS honest? Do they exist? If I find someone is deliberately trying to rip me off……I rain C17 loads of steaming turds on them! I am too old to put up with it any more.

    In Aviation, you should have a plan for everything including the management of the fuel regime. IF it’s premix then only mix the fuel just before you refuel, tag the fuel can IF any premix remains in it and try to use within 14 days or so. IF injected make sure oil tank has sufficient oil of correct type and check pump actuation cable adjustment regularly. Injection pump failure is rare but have seen some motorcycles have plastic gear drive failure.

    If the quality of investigations is hamstrung for any reason, then the value of them is virtually useless. Wasted time even……

    As a man who has been in Aviation for decades told me a while back……the only thing lower than the Aviation Industry……is the Horse Racing Industry. Guess I got my lesson in dealing with a broker, I would have thought the advert would have at least been edited to reflect the real situation, but no it’s still the same. 😞 Can’t help but think I would rather deal with a sleazy car salesman over a $300 rusty Corolla……..
