  1. I spend a lot of time on phone discussions with people more knowledgeable than me. I have quite a few Pilot friends out there that I can spend a couple of hours talking to. Those people know exactly where I come from, IF there is controversy……I am usually in the middle of it. But the difference is, here you can be attacked by Moray Eels but phone discussion, is more considerate and negotiable. I used to be on Mailing Lists 25 years ago, better than the Forums or SwampBook in todays World. How about that, for thread drift 😁
  2. I spent 90 minutes talking to an experienced Pilot this morning, asking question, opinions. on various aspects of Aviation. I learnt quite a bit from our conversation. Learn more keeping ears open, mouth closed.

  4. Well I went there, incentivised by Ben talking it up all the time. The moment I mentioned FAA FAR Part 103, it would appear I unknowingly had Leprosy in their eyes, so the $159 renewal went in the bin, when the time came……. Aviation is Aviation, why discriminate?
  5. Your first line says it all, Australia is run by people who are dumb as a box of rocks. Aviation, like many segments of life here, is a total mess. Just look at your beloved transport industry Turbs? Lately I see nothing in the media Bur B Doubles and other combinations with wheels in the air, everywhere and a landscape of dead bodies? Have all the smart rules fixed that? Have our Los Angeles sized phone books of rules and regulations stopped our Pilots from falling out of the sky? Everywhere I look, I see violations of logic and commonsense 🤢 Aviation is no different……

  10. Problem is……people won’t take responsibility, I don’t know if the past incorporated structure would have potentially different outcome for RAA? Welcome to our modern World, just sue the arse off everyone, even IF the suing person is wrong? Trouble is, I would allege information was withheld from Coroner, as reported by ABC? We don’t know if that was true or not, either? One thing I learnt years ago, right or wrong stay of a Court room, because either way it will COST you money, regardless…….
  11. The current round of legal problems could see serious problems for RAAus hierarchy financially, as a result of possible impending legal costs, in an ongoing case.

It’s understandable that RAAus, want nothing to do with it…….they have commercialised a hobby for their own gain, organisation structural change, increasing regulation which has increasing costs to benefit them, at our expense. All perpetrated by do gooders, thinking that RAAus is the God of our Aviation Sector. It’s done many good things BUT it has a vested interest in getting money out of its members. All I will say is……it’s gonna need it when they get 6 figures plus, for legal fees from a recent Coroners Inquest FUBAR, which has not finished yet. And because of its structure, even Members may have to make up a shortfall 🤢 Someone please tell me I am wrong?
  13. NO, fly your own FAR Part 103, with NO numbers, RAAaus can’t do ANYTHING and CASA are too busy, frying bigger fish, and don’t even know where Western Qld, is 🤩
  14. So on investigation of MARAP fees, the minimum is. MARAP Approval (minimum fee) $770.00 So it’s determined on the complexity of the application? The tech manual or fees schedule makes no reference to a renewal or registration changeover needing a reauthorisation? Maybe the logbook notation is accepted for the life of the aircraft? Anyone know that answer off hand?

  18. Very sad 🤢 I did my first 18 hours with Mark White at Midcoast Microlights, Coffs Harbour, in their white Foxbat. His Foxbat suffered a bad landing some time ago and due to repair time, the Flying School got a new Sting, just after COVID. i never got to fly it, as I changed schools closer to me. RIP Mark
  19. It’s becoming prohibitively expensive to be in the RAA sector with all its increasing rules, even an MARAP cost of $1000 or so dollars to change a prop. That MARAP has to be renewed? Correct me if I am wrong. Go RPL with 5 hours training, convert to VH for no cost, join SAAA and maintain own aircraft, I m not sure of specifics? WHY so much derision for FAR Part 103 U.S. it’s affordable Aviation with a plethora of technology in modern and safe airframes. Aviation in Australia is stuck in the Jurassic era, due to many Dinosaurs in it 🤢
  20. While in the U.S. the FAA seem to be happy with the performance of its FAR Part 103 Aviation Sector, that has all, its rules on ONE A4 page, needs NO Pilot licence, but manages all its own Training , in minimalist Aircraft, without FAA interference. WHERE have we gone wrong?

  22. Well, the regulators are gonna have a field day with this 🤢 control locks on all aircraft, they will need to be signed in and out, sighted operators authority to access aircraft, including licences and endorsements. Flight plan signed off authorised. You will all be wishing for AUF days……..
  23. The CEO of RAAus does not run the place, it’s all the mouth pieces behind her, with vested interests. I have NO faith in that place, except for a few technical people in it.
