  1. Already own a an S185 Bobcat, but was too lazy to take to job. maybe use a motorcycle helmet? Have a few. Also have a proper aircraft helmet, still in box…..maybe need to think about using it, when flying…..
  2. So, early last week I had what could have been a fatal accident using a Dingo Digger, suffice to say I had a Landcruiser Diesel motor in its bucket. Ground a little uneven and……raised the bucket up high to dump motor into box trailer and……disaster, toppled over threw me onto sharp edge of box trailer tailgate head first……needless to Say blood everywhere, Ambulance and express trip to Hospital 30km away. Not dead, but could have been, 15 staples in top of head later and 6 hours at hospital and I escape, that’s the serious bit…….. Today, I attend my GP and local DAME, he is a Mooney driver 🤩 He looks at my head for wound check and dressing, un aware of the circumstances to the cause. He says how did this happen? I say well……last week I was flying my Thruster inverted, and a 737 flew past ( i didn’t see it coming) I got massive wake turbulence, my seat belt broke and I fell against the upside down wing and gashed my head, losing total control. Well I managed to regain control, in plenty of time with 200 or so feet to spare and then managed to land, but I am real pissed of how much blood splattered al over my tail feathers🤩 He took a look at me, shook his head and said ‘you…..are f…ing mad’ I said, taken you 20 years to work that out!!! then I told him the real story. The safety aspect…….get a hard hat when operating Dingo, in future. Come to think of it, have never seen an operator wear one?
  3. Panic, only when a wing falls off……..
  4. Do it with REAL aircraft 🤩🤩
  5. I had a wide flat piece of ply on the top of the rear part of the fuse and stuffed part of a cut up foam mattress on top of the ply to support the ends of the wings that were strapped lightly to the fuse. Nothing moved and it travelled well at around 85kmh with tyres at about 25 PSI and the tyres ran quite cool.
  6. This is how I transported my Aeropup, from Gympie to Rockhampton, on my car trailer with a foam mattress cut up as required and all tied down, worked a treat.
  7. At the end of the day, the contents of this and whatever interpretation of it becomes what we need to consider. Don't like it? Write letters to CASA with suggested alternatives? Would they listen? Who knows……
  8. This will be ME, Turbs 🤩 The are Part 103 models available s/hand, I have checked 👍 https://youtu.be/IEdeFJnF5zc?si=lf1xSSUAR_0BERMr
  9. I would be there in a heartbeat, considering all the bullsh1t that goes on in this country. The FAA just gets out there and DOES it. CASA etc waffles on for years and many pilots simply die waiting for things to happen. RAA? not wound up enough to go there, YET 👍
  10. Easy solution here, be a pussy and sell your plane/stop flying? Buy model Train Set and set up in comfort of your lounge room and make ‘Choo Choo’ noises 👍 Me? I will fly my FAA FAR Part 103 plane around remote paddocks, NO Rego, NO licence but carry a handle held radio and go fly the wings off it, having heaps of fun 🤩🤩
  11. For me, its telling people where I am and what my intention is, taking into account what I have heard or not heard on the radio. I don’t want to be forced into a hasty decision, so even at the cost of more fuel, I will go fly orbits out of the way until I am happy to enter an uncluttered circuit to land. For me it’s not a race. My initial training started at Coffs Harbour and dealing with RPTs. Had a 737 coming in direct approach and instructor suggested I had time to do my standard circuit and be ahead of it to land. I m thinking straight away, too much pressure for me, I will exit the downwind and go fly orbits out of the way, wait until he lands and exits runway. Then I will wait a bit for wake turbulence to subside, join downwind then land with no stress. It’s not a race for me, so I chew up more fuel? Who cares? While I am flying, I am having fun!
  12. I scored 4 idiots in 1 month in our city 3 months ago, my 45 year old Landcruiser sustained no damage at all, idiot damage ranged from bruising to $3000 each. Crash speeds around 40km, 2 exiting car parks without looking, 1 rammed me from behind at a red light, one drove out of a hotel car park half pissed, crashed into bull bar, and did a runner. Pays to drive old cars 👍
  13. Well, I will be……it’s on a bucket list!
  14. And Turbs you fail to quote the link referring to the database in question, rendering your post pointless……👎
  15. Don’t look to the FAA for FAR Part 103 crash statistics. They have NONE, last time I enquired. That sector of Aviation in the U.S. must be considered ‘disposable’ 🤩
  16. Replaced them all, nuts as well. I did it all as part of the 5 year rubber replacement among other things the LAME did not do……
  17. Living has elements of risk for death at any time. I have taken many risks using my personal assessments and still alive to this day. My biggest worry in Aviation is finding good, dedicated, caring people to work on my aircraft, other than myself.
  18. A LAME OK’ed these engine mounts on my 912 powered Aeropup.
  19. The more I read this thread, seems lots of differing interpretations making me feel safer paddock jumping in a FAA Part 103 aircraft and staying well away from any airfields/airports etc. Not over 400 feet, just dodging the odd Drone. 🤩🤩
  20. This brand would only be my only choice, costly? Yes, but probably the best there is…… https://www.turtlepac.com/products/collapsible-jerry-can-fuel-tanks/
  21. Another MOSAIC Update https://bydanjohnson.com/mosaic-a-different-perspective/
  22. And a factory 400km from me that welcomes me through their doors, when I visit. And, can get parts anytime I want. 👍
  23. I was talking to a very well regarded Aviator about the video. I sent it to him for comment, he got the laughs I got from it and he simply said ‘that’s how we used to do it’ 🤩 We have people on this Earth who should not be driving cars, but they are. We have people who should not be flying aircraft, but they are. The difference is a poor pilot is soon to crash, and a poor self teaching pilot is going to crash SOONER?
