  1. Works fine. Not too onerous that way. Click and save. Double click the saved zip, double click the only file in it. Would be better to allow .kmz and .kml files though.
  2. Example For example, unless I'm mistaken this is Tomo's Airstrip. This is a hyperlink to the .kmz file. Just click it and open with Google Earth, or save it first then double click it. If we allow .kmz and .kml files, people won't need to host it first like I just did. Just upload it to our site.
  3. I think it's a great idea. I'd like to see .kml files too - so we can post trips (like those I'm creating with TrackMe on my phone. Ian - that would allow people to just click on (or maybe open) a .kmz or .kml file to open their Google Earth and go straight to the place or load the trip.
  4. I believe it's "I can put her down purt'n near anywhere". Great vid.
  5. Slartifastbutnotthatfast was aghast. "I have been maligned and violated" he exclaimed with a pained look on his face (cos that's got to hurt). Surely the rat wouldn't stoop so low as to pretend to post a photo then blame our hardworking for removing it? "Fortunately", thought the slartmonster, "I have an alibi". For at the very moment of the alleged unmoderation, slartisleepfast was under a general anaesthetic with a surgeon poking around inside both knees and removing enough cartilage and bone to make a shark. So he couldn't have possibly hopped to it that fast, he was fresh out of hoppers. "Stone the clows!" yelled Nobu reaching for the bong (and showing a worrying misunderstanding of a colloquialism). Does that mean the Rat ..........?
  6. Well done Darky. Congratulations.
  7. Hi Glen. I gave you my personal one - mainWays.wpt, and one I created from a text file MapTrax sent with some maps - allWays.wpt. The latter is a list of most of the airfields in the country. You should be able to save you new waypoint to any waypoint file. I'll post the steps when I get to my device later. You can also create more waypoints on the PC version of OziExplorer and save them to an existing waypoint file, or create a new file. Then copy that to the GPS.
  8. There you go - she rounded Cape Horn at 20:40 AEDT tonight in "40 knot winds, mist, drizzle and a bumpy 4 metre sea". She's just shy of 10,000nm into the trip.
  9. Bec and Darky - please ignore the deliberate troll by hostonbarry. As Ahlocks rightly pointed out, it was a spammer (his sig had a commercial link). I'll leave the post there so yours have some context, but I don't think too many troglodytes still think that way.
  10. Yep. I've been on board since before she hit the freighter (minor set-back). I totally admire her spirit and attitude. She'll be rounding the Horn right about now. I check almost daily, and even added my support on her blog. When you reflect on the multitude of detractors before she went (a cacophony of criticism), it demonstrated what's wrong with much of our modern society. All ready to knock and bash, because they wouldn't do it themselves, and don't believe anyone should be allowed to - especially a 16 year old girl. "Who's going to pay for her rescue?" has been a very common whinge. She is inspirational. Reading those who post on her blog, you can see there are thousands around the world who are actually changing their beliefs and lives because of what she is doing and the way she is doing it. Go Jess. Jess and Tomo - rôle models for a young generation.
  11. Sorry Ianrat. Quite right - I shouldn't have mentioned another aircraft. My bad. I thought the lad had asked about other kits. I have just reread his post and he didn't. I can delete my post and its replies if you object that much. Cheers, Ross
  12. Cool. Just bought 8 of them delivered from the UK for $102. This eBay store.
  13. Congrats Qwavid. That's a great result.
  14. Hi Glen. Yes the Sierra's wings and elevators come off quite quickly for trailering. That's how Garry got it to Narromine last year (due weather) and home from Bundaberg (due crash). There are a couple of Rotax powered Cheetahs I think, but not the Sierra yet. It can be done though, Garry would just need to make new engine mounts and change the cowling a bit. Talk to him about it.
  15. Definitely he should be aware of the issue BlackRod. As for high cruise and STOL, you should check the Morgan Sierra. Installed with flaps (they are optional), they can cruise at 135 knots and stall at 22 knots. The Cheetah can be made to be a short field performer too.
  16. Cheers Rory.
  17. That was a great weekend. It was bloody hot, and I got too much sun, but enjoyed a lovely swim, excellent flying weather, great displays and met with a few (too few) forumites. Sorry to have missed so many of you. Greats shots Tomo and ScottW. Love the departing Cheetah shot. I'll get some photos up when I have time. I was concerned at the higher than usual oil temp on the way home until I checked the OAT - 36 degrees at 2500 feet over the coast! Did Victor 1 in both directions too. That route rocks (if you lost the engine you'd be on the rocks rooted). Evans Head is a fantastic resource. Lets hope it remains an airfield and the Air Park gets off the ground, so to speak. 18. Thanks for the part number Jack, but I couldn't find it. The NGK website says the Iridium version of D9EA is DR9EIX. Can anyone confirm this is the one they are using? I want to try them out.
  19. You guys are good. Great read of its history here too.
  20. Why the hell wouldn't you want 5151 on it? Please explain. And it's not bloody orange. Agree Darky. Induhvidual (nerd thing) printing is going to be the issue. I'm not making sense. It's been a weekend of 2.5 hours driving, 10 hours flying, and way too much walking and sun (did I mention I need operations on both my knees next week?), then I find I have 600 posts to read (even though I read a bunch in my tent last night until the WW2 movie sounds drew me to the WW2 movie being projected against a WW2 hangar - how cool is that?) and water to pour on a fight. I wanted to be in bed 6 hours ago (before I landed). I'll get back to you. Yes Tomo - I don't mind creating induhvidual artwork. How many could there be? Real shame I missed you. I saw the post last night that you were coming down in the Arrow and kept an eye out for it, but I had to go. So hard to find forumites. You can't just say to everyone "recflying.com.au?". I tried it on Matt Hall and he called security.
  21. Wow. This has taken off while I was away. It has been on my list to create these. The thread you linked seems to have the original bumper sticker image pointing to some random photo. Here's the one you were talking about - I used to have it on my car. I will do the graphics, but I have to finish the new logo and site banner, so that we have the right one. The logo on this one was from a low-res image, so it's a bit fuzzy. Then we might look at a generator so people can enter their name to create a personal version. Maybe even select their preferred pithy phrase. The possibilities are endless (the sky's the limit?). Mazda found me at Evans Head because I was wearing the above on a T-shirt.
  22. Oops. I missed that bit. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
  23. Glad you worked it out Turbs. It's been years since I calibrated my own map and I'd forgotten about that bit. June 2007 actually - for the inaugural RecFlying Fly-in at Camden Haven. I found the map last night.
  24. What about the rudder Qwerty? I expect you'll run out of that even faster now. Try taping some cardboard to it. Make sure you do it before the repaint. Otherwise it might look silly.
  25. I wondered too. I used to use big foam blocks for the hang glider. Nice job though.
