  1. Of course Darky. We'll work something out. I didn't know any school details in Goulburn (apart from Teraya's name), so thanks 68volksy.
  2. Welcome Mumtaz. Glad you could drop in. It must be easy for you to soar like an eagle, 'cos you're surrounded by Turkey.
  3. Congrats guys. Some great shots this month. Relfy and Philthy - have you sent Angela the high-res versions of your winning, er - runnerupping, shots? Angela will be back to judge August in the near future. Cheers, Ross
  4. Excellent Jan. Mine came with Whereis Navigator. Is seems to do the job pretty well. I only used it once to test it out. It even worked in the air, so has no trouble running over 200kph. Kept it busy working out new routes when I kept missing the turns though
  5. That's very close to the A$1,000 cut-off value for Customs import rules. You must use the Reserve Bank exchange rate on the day the goods are shipped to you as the value of the goods for declaration purposes. If that value is over A$1,000, you must complete an Import Declaration and pay the applicable duty and GST. Marking goods as a gift doesn't help. The Gift Concession ceased on 1st October 2008. So check your timing on the exchange rates.
  6. No - I was simply offering a ride while you are up this way. I am not an instructor, and I deliberately built my plane so it can't be fully flown from the right seat (no brakes or throttle). Nobody gets to fly it but me (except for Garry Morgan for a bit of test flying).
  7. Is the pope a catholic? That's it in my avatar. More pics here.
  8. Hi Darky. The closest is Goulburn (110k north), Cooma (110k south), Moruya (170k east), Adaminaby (170k south) or Tumut (200k west by road - only 60 by air). There's no RA flying in Canberra. There should be no issues in taking a few lessons with someone else. It can be vey useful to get a different teaching approach and change of scenery. You might be able to get a Cheetah experience while you're here if you like. It's highly recommended.:cool_shades: Cheers, Ross
  9. Ditto here at work with IE, but works fine in Firefox. I'm getting the banner and menu bar / sidebar, but clicking any item shows some loading activity, but the content area remains blank and I get the following error: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Timestamp: Wed, 9 Sep 2009 05:33:01 UTC Message: HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed (KB927917) Line: 0 Char: 0 Code: 0 URI: http://www.bx2.com.au/
  10. Something like this emaroo? I use a FlightCell 2Go for wired connectivity. I thought it was broken, but turns out it was the plug adaptor my phone needed. Worked fine on the weekend after getting a new one for my new phone.
  11. You can't even necessarily believe what you see. There was a great example last week on 60 minutes - which used to be a reputable source. A case I know something about was being reported on, and the facts were not presented at all. They even did a classic street chase asking questions of a principal in the story on the run. They didn't show a single response from him, making it look like he was trying to ignore the questions and get away. They also didn't show a single piece of footage from an entire interview he gave them immediately before the "chase". That's just plain shonky, and I'll never trust them again.
  12. Not subtle enough. I don't have a conventional gear endorsement and haven't flown one since my Blanik days, so I didn't take off or land. The horsepower would have bitten me for sure. I flew much of the rest of the time though, and loved it.
  13. I think Turbo's right on both counts. I know how you feel Jodie. My daughter gave me a flight in a Pitts S2C for my 50th last year. I had a ball. Best present ever, or at least since my first wife gave me that particular daughter.
  14. Way to go Jodie. You had a better father's day than most of us fathers.
  15. That's what I've been told by multiple sources Jim - including my PPL school.
  16. Yep - thanks Cebelia. I assume you work in a relevant government agency here in sunny Canberra? I got a GME 410G too.
  17. There you go. When you can see your full image in photobucket (in this case but could be anywhere), right click on it and select "copy image location". Then in your post click on the yellow mountain icon () and <ctrl>v (paste) the saved location into the box. Done.
  18. My guys said (after looking it up) that you don't need the BAK. That's only for GFPT.
  19. John Brandon, the webmaster of the RAAus site, hangs out here. It might be constructive to let him know what you think could be better. I've always found it pretty good, and it has heaps of useful info.
  20. Welcome to another Canberran. Are you with the Canberra Gliding Club? I used to fly with them at Polo Flat before they bought Bunyan - nearly 30 years ago. Enjoy, Ross
  21. I made a start today. Did an hour of circuits in a 172N at YSCB. It was only on the 3rd or 4th landing that the instructor felt safe to not assist. Took me a while to adjust to flying with a wheel and not a stick, not to mention a few things which are more complex than my simple Cheetah. I think I'm on top of it now though. Next week we're off to the training area to do a few steep turns and stalls, then if I really am on top of it, a nav. I really enjoyed having a controller looking out for me. There was a fair bit of traffic around too. Heavies, and even a Metroliner doing touch and goes. Got to hit the books again. Should be fun.
  22. Sorry Skydog, I forgot to answer that one. As Philthy says, but in most threads we prefer to use the "upload to this site and use the thumbnails" method because it is friendlier to those who are "bandwidth challenged" (PC enough?). I figure it's fair to make an exception in the photo comp threads though.
  23. Yeah thanks qwerty. Might be useful. I think the Cheetah is a little more than an outrageously painted Jabiru, but that's probably the best insult I've had yet.
  24. Dear Mr Typewriter. Sounds like a great idea.
