    Nice to hear that I'd be barely adequate in the non-jabiru conversation department. What if I just talk about my engine? Yep - should be there. Got an oil change to do before I leave. Should be able to get there middayish. Might have time to put the wheel spats back on too. Have to engineer a new way to attach them to my new Matco wheel axles. Had a couple of stripped threads on the outer attachment points. See? Boring already.

    Thanks Brent. When you attach the dob of super glue, do they come off again when you want them to? Also, is it a standard part? Where do you get them? (I haven't looked for them in the manual yet)

    I use my phone. It has 5 countdown timers and 5 countup timers, so I can have one go off every 6 minutes for a pos check, and others running for trip time and leg times. The application is SPB Time. I haven't worn a watch for decades.

    Thanks for that input Ferris. Great information. You guessed it BrentC, the answer they wanted was d) It depends on the individual. It's hard to overstate how dangerous I think this answer is. There were quite a number of silly answers. I applaud the idea of a little human factor training and awareness, but someone who knows the subject AND knows aviation should have another look at these exams (there are 2 to choose from I believe). Meanwhile, I'm glad I gave up drinking altogether. I feel heaps better. Got to go to the gym now.

    The new RAAus Human Factors exam asks: How long after drinking can a pilot fly? a) 8 hours from first drink. b) 8 hours from last drink. c) 4 hours from last drink. d) It depends on the individual. (this is just from memory, but I did it on Saturday and it's close) Guess which answer they want? Keep in mind that the exam was written by a non-pilot as I understand it, and at times the answers are slightly ridiculous.

    AFAIK, you're just selling a second hand aeroplane. You're not up for either CGT or GST. Only problem with your plan is, once you put 50 hours on a Sierra or a Cheetah, you wont want to part with it Maybe building two and selling one will enable you to keep the Starlet too.

Turn the wheel for elevator trim. [ATTACH]7387.vB[/ATTACH] Just lift the velcro and slide the bungie left or right for aileron trim. [ATTACH]7388.vB[/ATTACH] [ATTACH]7389.vB[/ATTACH] You can see the spool. [ATTACH]7390.vB[/ATTACH] The arc and detentes were for the original lever. The holes were too far apart.

    Many of you would have seen my post about cowboy attitudes in aviation. I used Bigglesworth's incidents as an example. My motives were pure - to warn those new to flying and reading his posts about the dangers of believing you are bulletproof. However, it was wrong of me to do so without talking to him first. I couldn't convince myself I had done the right thing so I deleted the thread. I have since corresponded with him and I believe we have made our peace - he was very gracious about it. My facts were basically right, although he says there have been only 4 incidents and there were extenuating circumstances in each. He knows I still think he is a cowboy (he even wears the hat), but he doesn't wish to have these incidents discussed in public. The point about the general attitude getting you into trouble still stands, but it was wrong of me to use Bigglesworth as an example without consulting him. Sorry. Ross PS BW - glad to see you back on the forum last night. We hope Cowboy Up is repaired and flying again soon. Then we can worry about you all over again.

    Good idea Poteroo. I'd prefer we never bring up religion in any form at all. It's too easy to offend, and there are always strong views on all 3 sides of the issue. Locked.

    I've got strobes on my already highly visible Jabiru powered Cheetah, and they work great! They were originally on a Thruster owned by a guy called Jesus Christ. I kid you not.

    I find it to be great in sunlight. If you had to, a hood would be simple to make. It comes with a very good suction mount - good in the sense of the bit the GPS mounts to. Suction caps aren't real good. You could screw or glue the suction cap end somewhere. The GPS slides in and out of the mount easily to take it with you. It locks in place on the mount very well. You could then use it in the car too. I bought an ebay mount to leave in the car. It attaches to a vent. It's easy to run Ozi in the air and the standard car program on the ground. Cheers, Ross

    Also read my review here. I swear by this solution, as do some other people who have since tried it. It would work well in a trike too. All for $300ish. I bought another one for the wife last weekend (made the mistake of telling her it was a backup for mine).

    The one in post #7 photo 2 is my original Mio. The one in post #7 photo 5 is my new Mio. Read all about it here. Highly recommended. A number of people have bought them as a result of that post - and hopefully will be as happy as I am.

    Another bloody eagle-eyed punter. You've got to watch watch you post here ;). That set of photos was taken slightly before completion, and a number of things weren't done at the time - including the wing root lining. There is a 2 inch wide rubber strip glued in place to seal that joint. It provides a waterproof seal, while still allowing the wings to be taken off. Cheers, Ross

    Yes Peter, although I don't make a habit of it. I was sure someone asked the VNE and stall speed of John Bale's all-metal Cheetah with flaps, but now I can't find where. Oh well - the answers are: 150 knot VNE (mine's about 125) Stall at medium load with flaps extended - 22 knots. Mine's about 35.
