  1. In high wing aircraft I was taught to unlatch the door during descent not just to avoid the door getting jambed but to enable the cockpit to fill with water quickly so that you could exit quickly. Leaving the door closed would make it virtually impossible to open the door until the cabin had filled with water. Not good with passengers trapped in the back. Alan.

  13. Could you just imagine the approach controllers radio calls to five A380's on finals telling them which part of the runway to land on. Do we have any controllers on this forum with a few ideas?. Alan.
  14. If we had wider runways we could do that with commercial jets especially at busy airports. Alan.

  20. I have actually flown in reverse many years ago from Blackpool to the Isle of Man; this was in a Silver City Bristol Freighter with rearward facing passenger seats. ' Alan.

  22. Well guys, not wishing to sound big headed, but a few years ago I took off and headed north into a very strong head wind and on returning to the airfield my ground speed had increased by over 500%. Here is a photo taken just after the record breaking flight. Alan.
  23. You wouldn't be the first to do that. A few years ago I had an aircraft report inbound at 10 miles when coming to our Truro Flats fly-in, he subsequently reported joining the circuit but was nowhere to be seen. He landed at Stonefield airport nearby.. Alan.
