    Your C182 story will sadly become all too common as 100LL marches towards $4ltr, by Xmas I reckon! I expect numerous gas guzzlers to hit the market in the coming months, will be a buyers market! good luck back on the dark side👍

    I guess you could carry a tube of Silastic but one has to ask, where does it all end? Perhaps a couple of bags of ready-to-mix concrete, to make a slab for under yr prop during start up?😂😉

    In 43 years driving planes I’ve had two flat tires, one on a twin turbo-prop the other an Airbus, I think I’ll not worry about a jack😂

    Oh it’s all too ‘heavy’ for me😂 I wouldn’t bother with a jack, as mentioned above, support the leg with whatever you can find and dig a hole under the wheel, old bushman’s trick👍 I’m waiting to see who carry’s an engine o/haul kit at this rate😂

    The Oil CO’s are happy that the EP boffins are floundering with battery technology, I think the Oil CO’s are safe for a very long time😂

    At least all these weasly idea’s give us a source of entertainment!😂 I just did 450nm in 2.4 hrs, 70l, wake me up when I can do this in some EP fairy machine for just a few cents😂😂

    These Challenger fools are dreaming if they think M0.8= 490 kts😂 I know a guy who drives these out of YMEN, they do between 50-100 hrs a year, barely keep current!

    Worth we’ll over a $100K. Engine/prop/avionics covers that alone, never lone a pair of new wings! Be interesting to se what it goes for?

    A PLB is a given (for me) it’s kept in my flight bag that goes everywhere with me from machine to machine👍 Its a good point though, wonder how many out there have their own?

    Interesting point’s there Old K. Attire is something else to consider when flying, especially over various terrains. I guess we each have our own ideas as to what constitutes ‘survival’ should you come down. From a simple mechanical fault leaving you stranded away from home inconvenienced but intact, to a crash in a semi remote area injured and wishing you where better equiped. I probably do carry around too much stuff but then again I’ve always subscribed to that saying……..chance favours the prepared mind👍

    Some good suggestions there, as mentioned I take more if I’m going further afield, but what I listed above is permanent in my flying machines, even if I’m in the circuit👍Tie downs should be a Std in every A/C anyway. superglue might be a good idea, kinda like a suture in a tube👍

    Just wondering what other plane drivers out there keep permanently in their planes by way of survival gear? Apart from a bottle of engine oil I carry basic stuff in all my machines, first-aid kit being the main one, water, waterproof matches, space blanket, sun cream, mirror (for keeping up appearances) torch (inc spare batts)small blow up pillow, basic tools, multi function knife and duct tape. I add additional stuff if going further afield.

    Facty that reminds me of a flight many years ago (probably near 40 yrs ago) where I found myself landing towards the setting sun at YIMT in a C210, (with a bunch of less than sober YBDV race goers who wanted to leave the races quickly, found out later the local cops where looking for them!) with the windscreen covered in bugs, I struggled to line up with the rocky strip (no GPS then), had to abort, tried 3 times, ended up diverting to YBHI & now at night! A WAC chart, whizz wheel and an ADF dancing to a tune I didn’t like! Thank Christ the FS guy stayed back at YBHI for our arrival! The setting sun, the bugs, the enemy!

    With the advent of todays gizmo’s to make flying somewhat easier and safer these events should be very few and far between. Avplan, OzzyRwy’s and A/P’s (which are plentiful these days) all help to avoid the “Oh-sh1t” factor…….but then again do they really? Are we relying on modern technology to reduce the level of alertness we might have once had pre the techno crap? Now that’s the question!

    The old crash comics from days gone by used to have numerous such stories, most not ending well! Do we ever learn? Humans are not very good at learning by their mistakes, we try and we fail all too often. At least this one ended with just a “phew”!👍

    Still think this machine was man’s best flying creation👍 Together with the B747 (both flew about the same time, within weeks of each other) the flying world changed forever👍 Parked next to one in Syd once, my jet looked like it was just born by the mothership🙁

    Whilst I find the guys vids interesting/entertaining I wonder how many of us really fly like he does here in Oz in say a C182 or C170? Landing on gravel bars, weaving in and out of trees in high risk environments all the time with the stall warning activating? I’d say none to very few! We simply don’t have the locations like they do over there, here is very restrictive, people would whinge, the authorities would crucify us for operation in and out of some gravel bar on the Murray River for instance! Insurance Co’ would be thrilled m sure😉

    Total waste of time this group G for say a C152, once self declared Medical’s are in place for VH reg driven machines there’s simply no point! You can avoid the cost of RA membership in doing so!
