  1. Fair enough. I only know raaus terms. And the training for use is exactly as turbo described with ga. Skippy is implying that you need the pump on to get full power at critical phases of flight. In training you are told it's only on as a backup in case the mechanical pump fails. It's just words I suppose. My latest xair has a 618 and if I leave the electric pump on too long at idle it overcomes the the needles and starts flooding. Will have to swap for a lower pressure pump or fit a regulator. Standard xair backup is a squeeze bulb, not much fun operating that if mechanical pump fails.
  2. RA Airctraft, including self built are likely to have anything in their system, and in some cases producing less efficiency than the kit designer specified. RA "Boost" Pumps This implies a pump that boosts the pressure. If it really is a boost pump, and not just an incorrect name, this implies that a mechanical pump is fitted, but doesn't have enough capacity to supply fuel to the engine at full power. In this case if you don't have your boost pump working you could run the engine lean and get combustion chamber damage. (I suspect that people here are just mis-calling the name of the pump, but you never know. its actually the backup or secondary pump. if you need it to get full power then there is a problem with the mechanical pump. boost pump is not a term i have heard any instructors use.
  3. this is exactly what we are taught in raaus turboplanner Posted 13 hours ago Electric fuel pumps on Basic (training) GA airctraft were introduced as an extra safety feature in the case of a mechanical fuel pump failure near the ground. The Check list was: Pre Start: Fuel pump on, check making pressure. After Start: Fuel pump off Pre Take Off: Fuel pump on, check pressure 1000 feet: Fuel pump off Pre-Landing checks (downwind leg): Fuel Pump On After landing: Fuel Pump Off
  4. Ok. I thought you might have joined the team. I misread it. Sorry
  5. did not know you were a moderator.
  6. my mistake. looks like gearbox casing.
  7. is the hole over the donut the only damage

  9. very observant red. i can sort of understand the clecos if they were in a hurry , don't worry mustafa she will hold together long enough for boom boom.. no marks visible on the ground though, that was something they missed when putting the show together.
  10. . It's a crank recall. They are replacing them regardless of condition as far as I can tell. Please point out the information you have saying it is replace according to condition of crank. I missed that. When I worked in a car dealership we did recalls on vehicles , they did not have to show the symptoms of failure first.
  11. Park a dyno fan in front of it.. The other option is just put power to the Hobbs meter and let it run for a couple of days.
  12. Good point 🤣
  13. I don't understand how someone qualified to fly a sky writing plane never learnt how to land. 🤔
  14. thats easy. people go to another school and that one misses out on income they could have had.
  15. you people do realise the runway post above is a joke.
  16. Must get a lot for 1.6 m there. Victoria spent over a billion to cancel a contract.
  17. now you have a ground adjustable you will get it dialled in.

  22. there was talk that the warning light had the sun shining on it and the pilot might not have noticed . one of the blokes on it had been working with us a week before doing some welding on the rigs.
  23. years ago i was working nightshift on a drill rig at leonora in wa. i heard someone say on the uhf that a sons of gwalia mine flight flew straight past leonora. my father was in the perth bound plane which was waiting at the threshhold for the kingair arrival which never happened. next morning we got a message saying it had crashed in queensland. all onboard were unconscious , believed to be a pressurisation problem
  24. After a serviceable prop for a jab 1600 if anyone has one they would like to sell.
