  1. take a chill pill nev. the world hasn't come to an end.
  2. you call yourself the facthunter. live up to your name. i don't know of any manufacturers that don't run a company website usually with the information people seek on there.
  3. i bought a new aeg 58 volt mower, brushcutter and chainsaw about 4 yrs ago. all good for 2 years. then one battery packed up. next the chainsaw died. ended up throwing the mower and chainsaw in the hard waste. still have the brushcutter , it works great. maybe other brands are better. i now use petrol mower again. the electric mowers have a straight cutter bar. my masport petrol has proper blades like the old victas.
  4. Are you saying don't trust a manufacturers website.
  5. i was making a point that things are changing at raa. not after an argument.
  6. Why. All the main manufacturers have a website with all the information you need.. it's 2024 nev not 1955
  7. That was 2022. Ths year things have changed. Raas are going over everything with a fine tooth comb these days. There are inconsistencies too. Forcing people to get casa weight and balance checks at a cost of up to $1000 . My 2 xairs they dropped one to 450.kg from 544 and the other to 490 because I said I wasn't happy with 450. There is a bloke on Facebook who was made to get a w&b for a trike at a cost of $835, it was a standard Aus brand trike with no mods at all, been regoed with safa for 20 yrs but raaus forced the issue as part of the transfer. A vh plane can go it's whole life without a w&b if it's not modified.
  8. If I told you all the near misses and crap that I put up with every day it would take forever. When U drive around Melbourne all day you become immune to most stuff .the latest Muppet trick is to fly past and cut across the front of trucks to an exit ramp. Even if there is nothing behind the truck. I worked 5 hours this morning and only got cut off once. That's a great day.
  9. I think when the pilot and passengers are fixated on something on the ground airmanship goes out the window.
  10. What was the magazine I used to buy at the newsagents. Pacific flier?. I think the editor was Angela. Used to look forward to every issue.
  11. For raaus ?
  12. Online is the way to go. We are all on there anyway.
  13. Sorry. I thought you were talking about a microlight licence in the UK.
  14. Thanks red. I do watch a few YouTube's on jodels ,mainly uk
  15. Why can't U explain it here. Would be good to hear from the horses mouth so to speak.
  16. thats pretty clear. 10 yrs or 1500 hrs the cloth comes off so it makes it easy to have a good look over the spars on that aircraft.
  17. none there you reckon. there are more thrusters and xairs flying there than here. they also have easier medicals and fast track licensing for ultralight/microlight.
  18. Not having a go at you. Southern sun is vh ,nothing to do with raas. Are you suggesting raas pilots can fly around the world in their RPC. Actually people that can afford flash European aircraft should be seperate to us that want to fly simple and affordable aircraft. Xair which are great fun to fly are still available new as are several other ultralights it only seems to be Australia that is against ultralights. Plenty flying in other countries.
  19. that would have been fun if you took off not knowing.
  20. I have been involved with ply and timber boats since I was a kid. I love wood. The question I asked is about inspecting an old wooden wing. How do people thoroughly inspect one without removing the fabric. I don't know if sellers would be too keen on allowing potential buyers to hack up their wing skins.
  21. skippy i think you need to give raa techs a ring and discuss what they expect now. for instance both my xairs were 544kg for twenty plus years. this year raaus cut one back to 450 kg and the other to 490. i asked why and was told they wanted everyone to be safe, the real reason is the mt beauty court case. like i said in another post. things are changing.
  22. i would love to buy a jodel but i have the same concerns about wood as talked about here. how do you inspect a wooden wing without wrecking the fabric. maybe a borescope type camera. and cut a few small sections which can be patched neatly.
  23. i agree with skip.90% crap. and what does flying around the world have to do with raaus.
