  1. Brilliant winter's day at west sale. Qnh 1041
  2. was it smooth flying. magnificent weather this week.
  3. you can't compare 2000 kg with 400. and over ride brakes on front axle are the same in the eastern states up to 2 ton as well.
  4. my trailer was almost identical and towed straight as a die even with one flat tyre. raaus aircraft weigh nothing and as you said the engine is close to the hitch so good weight distribution.
  5. not enough weight in an raaus plane to worry about, but towing tail first can cause a lot of stress from buffeting.
  6. i agree, always tow it the way it flys. unless its covered
  7. if you just want to transport it home, hire a flatbed trailer or car trailer. take plenty of foam rubber and some carpet. lots of ratchet straps .
  8. i don't think you do have it back to front from the stuff i read
  9. My buddy the U-2 pilot points out that during much that turns put one wing in mach buffet and the other in stall buffet. this is interesting. 2 types of stall at the same time.
  10. plenty of info on google but seems to be a lot of differing views on what is correct. unusual for the internet.
  11. IAS is not the speed of the air over the wing. TAS is the speed of the air over the wing. Example: You are flying at 130,000 feet with only 3 air molacules per square centimeter at a TAS of 1,000 kts. You fly past a point in the air marked by a floating balloon. With everything staying constant for one hour the balloon will be 1,000 nautical miles away and the whole time the airspeed indicator will have read 1 or 2 kts. The air molacules go over the wing at a velocity of a 1,000 kts (TAS) but the difference in pressure with only 3 molacules per square centimeter give a very low indication (IAS).
  12. Basic VNE is an indicated airspeed but flutter is affected by TAS. The velocity of air thats actually going over the control surfaces. As you go higher generally the TAS needs to be reduced with an increase in altitude for stability. While you might have the same impact velocity (IAS) youll have less stabilizing static pressure on the sides of the aircraft. Thus a reduction in IAS to keep the aircraft in safe margins. For some aircraft it's not a set VNE TAS either. For instance, in the B407 VNE is 140 KIAS all the way up to 4,000 ft at 0 degrees. Then IAS needs to be reduced with a corresponding TAS. Also for some aircraft like business jets or helicopters you have Mach limiting TAS as you get into colder air at higher altitudes. found this snippet
  13. thanks red, so the higher you go the higher the vne goes as the air gets thinner,
  14. the aerostar had a vne of 244knts. what do they have to do to the airframe to get 400knts without structural damage.
  15. i suppose you could call it mounting lubricant 😁
  16. Victorian road safety cameras are about maximising gov revenue nothing else. The police try to convince us it's for safety but I think that's pretty low on the priority list.
  17. apparently this stuff is made to work with rubber and any chemist has it for $8 a tube. 😁
  18. Yes. Only problem is aircraft slots are not din sized like these car ones.
  19. Cradle is removed. I can just stick a piece of black plastic over the hole . I just wondered if you could buy universal blanks like single and double slots in cars.
  20. Thanks . Will keep it in mind.
  21. Hello. Can anyone tell me if U can buy a blank cover to fit a hole in the panel left by a Garmin 320 transponder. I can make something but a proper blank would be good if they make such a thing.
  22. The lady was driving. Middle eastern I think. She said the sun was in her eyes .
