  1. Launching now into a weak day on a revised course ('Task C').
  2. That is not the FR24 receiver map. That is a map of the ADSB station operated by Air Services (who do not feed data to FR24).
  3. A better question is to ask, "What makes a plane appear on FR24?" The answer to that question is either a base station is receiving ADSB 1090S from the plane or three base stations are receiving the Mode S transponder replies. In the absence of either of these conditions the plane does not appear - i.e. disappears.

  6. Firstly, please supply your bank account number so that we can forward the charges for keeping an aircraft carrier on station. Second, have you computed the horizon centered on Diego Garcia? For the rest of the post - you have failed to supply evidence needed to give you speculations any credibility at all.

  10. Where did you get that link from? No doubt that men get breast cancer. But Femama is an institute set up for female breast cancer. I don't see your point.

  13. In what can be only described as an outstanding achievement Lisa Trotter has broken 31 records !
  14. I'm not sure who called them "engine pings". They have nothing to do with the engines. They are part of the satellite terminal functionality. They occur once every 64 minutes. I think the misunderstanding originated from a person who probably had at least some technical knowledge of the satellite link breefing a journalist who, of course, was technically illiterate and he / she dubbed them "engine pings".
  15. Buried amongst a whole bunch of irrelevant garbage about deleted files: "...senior U.S. counterterrorism officials say that an accident is the leading operative theory...".
  16. A possibility. In any case I personally think that one or both of the pilots have acted maliciously is very unlikely.
  17. Yes, its too early to say until it can be picked up. Looks like they are getting good drift data.
  18. Two objects located linked to MH370: PM I hope that they are not being premature. There is some sort of press conference scheduled for 04:30UTC.
  19. An article: How Flight 370 Could Have Become a Zombie This is the sort of analysis that should be occurring. And, by searching south and west of Australia, I think that this is the sort of analysis that the NTSB / ATSB / AMSA have applied.
  20. What's ACI? Read the report. The crew asserted control over the aircraft and continued to navigate. Only then did they transmit. The is the correct procedure. Subsequently, they requested airspace. Until the crew can aviate and navigate there is no point in communication with the ground. What are they going to do?
  21. Actually I more interested in the NTSB, or equivalent, report - if it is ever produced.
  22. Yes, QF2 did send out a PAN - eventually - because it was landing. But they had already brought the plane under control. The last reported position of the plane was 90nm - approx 170 Km - from the eastern shore of Malaysia. Not good for cell phones. In any case, in the event of some catastrophic it is very rare for passengers to make a call.
  23. Avaiate, navigate, communicate. For instance, Air France 447 sent no distress call. In fact most airline crashes sent no call. Why would they? The passengers had no comms.
