  1. Here is 140 sq metres and 20 m from boundary and it says you can have two sheds without approval. Three sided sheds don't count I think !
  2. As you said and probably know quite well Casa ALA document is only a guide, not sure if this is the latest , https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/g/files/net351/f/_assets/main/download/caaps/ops/92_1.pdf
  3. I have looked at some zonings in council rules and some say no airports or heliports, my zoning has nothing about airports or heliports and is rural agriculture, I think rural residential has the limitations but this is obviously ok if you come and go and no one says anything.
  4. The moment you mention the word construct the council is involved.
  5. Most CFIs would not do a flight test unless they thought you were up to it, so don't be nervous, relax and have fun.
  6. I have a pruvate strip and SDQDI and Storcy Niel are right.. if you upset neighbours then CASA or Council will act. I invite my neighbours flying and look after them. If you let your friends in be very carefull as they may do liw fly over neighbours or make noise and ruin your game. Also make everyone who come to sign a waiver that they understand it is a paddock.
  7. Great work Don, great to have passionate people on the board like you who believe in what their doing ! I always get dissappointed by "YES" people who do not know what their doing and nor do they care they just want to be important ! It's nice to be important but it is important to be nice ! Great achievements considering a some time ago I had no faith in the CEO or the board and thought we were sunk, now all I want a clear resolution to Casa insistent stupidity in interfering with RAA.
  8. Happy birthday for last week ! Oh, oh and congratulations on your first solo.
  9. I believe this is more a case of true lack of understanding of the full content as I'm the first to admit I do not understand the full implications of either side ! I think for me it will be who do I trust !
  10. I believe you are right dsam as to the need to have examples.
  11. An L2 near me has had such a request for his Thruster. He was told it was random.
  12. The idea of solo time is good as it allows time for a person to focus on good decision making and no distraction. Some people can't wait to impress someone and this is normal but can be a distraction and I know the CFI in this discussion and is the nicest and fairest gentleman you would ever meet. Doing the test is usually only done when the instructor thinks the student is ready and is not a point for dispute unless there is a moving of the goal posts as Fishla suggests but I don't think this is mentioned anywhere in this thread, only the time and that is ten hours as pilot in command and COMPETENT to carry passengers !
  13. Your website is not easy to use and I don't like using it ! Your involvement with AOPA and the Eureka paper didn't involve disscussion with RAA until much later did it ? So why not talk to RAA directly before running with AOPA as I don't agree with quite a bit of the Eureka document ? I have strong views on lots of aviation matters and I bet you do too but the Eureka document is trying to hurt RAA and 30 mins at Tamworth won't fix much !
  14. Just looking up Tamworth and am a little bewildered ! It seem you can only approach from Duri Gap. Can you enter from North and East as there are no reporting points there ?
  15. I watch a lot of his videos and am proud of him, an achiever and a doer ! Good stuff !
  16. When a certified or registered airport with mandatory radio requirement I don't think you can fly solo especially with radio installed without radio endorsement ! Can you show the exemption is stated !
  17. You don't need a radio at certain airfields and others you do see https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/g/files/net351/f/_assets/main/download/caaps/ops/166-1.pdf If the aircraft is radio equiped you must use it ! So you will need to be able and qualified to be able to use it !
  18. SOUNDS GREAT, YOU ARE IN A GOOD PART OF THE WORLD, YOU SHOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE GREAT LOCAL BUDDIES WITH AIRSTRIPS.
  19. I have a private 800 meter farm strip and would not like anyone to land with signing a liability waver, it has been in existance for about 3 years and only my plane and one other have used it, also due to the fact there is a little extra skill required due to a power line close to approach path it would not be good for low hour pilots, I would enjoy having others come but the risk for liability and inexperienced is too much without a waiver and some clue to experience of pilots !
  20. Good on you Bex, like seeing you having a go and like your updates, good luck with all your projects. Looking forward to some success stories !
  21. The RAA was unaware until I raised it and are aware now ! I agree with what your saying and am disgusted by the behaviour !
  22. He should face very serious action ! http://www.aopa.com.au/assets/587/Project_EUREKA_120416.pdf Page 63 Signed as. RAAus Director .
  23. Well said Don and Jetjr. Some important points in my opinion that need attention ! . CASA used data not relevant to Jabiru engine problems so why chase owner maintenance issues as this is not the cause but AOPA says so ! . AOPA did not consult RAA. . A signatory to Eureka document is a RAA board member. . If AOPA want equal medical as RAA and they can't get it we lose it ? . If AOPA say LAMEs should inspect Jabiru engines because owner maintence is sub standard do you think CASA will let the owner work on a Rotax ? . The 2003 National Airspace Reform headed by Dick Smith was a disaster and I recommend that anyone that is interested in safety research this as some may remember it was very concerning issue for Air Traffic Controllers. . There may be valid issues in AOPAs document but unfortunately there is bad news too, would have been better to talk to RAA but I'm afraid they don't ! . The fact AOPA are lobbing politicians is great but they should have got on board with ALL AIRCRAFT OWNERS AND PILOTS OF AUSTRALIA !
  24. My suggestions, Spark plugs are are culprit for hard starting ! Clean, test and gap or replace. Did sound to be cranking a little slow, I would fit a power socket so you can jump start with your car, most recreational aircraft use anderson plugs. I would make sure choke are operating properly and pulling full on as it is an enriching system. Your engine sounds to be firing but not running as if no fuel to continue ! When a Rotax gets going it's a good idea to loose the choke quickly as not to foul plugs ! Do you do this ?
  25. There is now one who is an AOPA signatory to the Eureka document that is an RAA board member and that is part of the problem as he hasn't consulted RAA or doing anything in the interest of RAA and it is a serious issue in my opinion. Col it seems you don't really know what's going on. It is real important that RAA issues need to be addressed politically before the GA mob ruin our freedoms because of jealousy and ignorance. I have a PPL and have owned GA aircraft and a former member of AOPA, I started in trikes many years earlier than that ! This is about the future of RAA and if AOPA stick their nose in any further they will destroy RAA and I'm not going to be quite about the wrong actions of others.
