  1. A similar thing to a ramp check at a fly in is like the police setting up vehicle inspections at a Hot Rod show and issueing Defect notices. There is no way I will attend any event whilst it is being treated as a way of victimising participants, I won't give them the privilidge. The reason Natfly was not being attended is because CASA was trying to show they were in charge and there is no way I will support this attitude and to make it perfectly clear CASA COULD NOT RUN A CHOOK RAFFLE ! . CASA is a disgrace. The new director better fix it soon as time is running out !
  2. Certified aircraft can be run on condition and used for training ! This was stated by tech using MARAP. Can not be done on LSA. I believe any certified aircraft can be run on condition if not used for training, LSA may be different as you are meant to follow manufacturers instructions.
  3. Thanks Maj, I'm impressed and would like such a machine, don't know how long it would survive in a salt water environment, do the seaplanes you work on suffer excessive corrosion ? Just looking at Puddlejumper website , http://www.puddlejumper.com/eindex.html. would they be the 15ft floats possible suited to land Africa as they are similar ? I have watched the USA Jabiru YouTube video of a 230 or 250 on Meade floats, what would you think of a 230 on Puddlejumper floats ?
  4. What sort of floats are they ? Do they cause any cruise or max speed reduction ? Are they fibreglass ? Is the float kit made for the Zenair, plane looks like a Hornet ?
  5. What would you think if it did as maybe someone could have been given an exemption. You are guessing about Camden, I've heard from people not guessing. So I can still not be certain, but has been said from several sources.
  6. Where was the aircraft ? I have been told twice now the aircraft came out of Bankstown. Seems CASA make it difficult, then make exceptions, for special people, wink - wink, just so were on an even playing field. Can anyone confirm that it came out of Bankstown ?
  7. Hi Mark. My hangar is 12x12 and the doors were designed as top roller but the design couldn't hold the weight so they put bottom rollers on as well, the door came off the tracks in a slight wind, so after more modification the top rollers were removed and guides fitted, the doors are better but I would prefer a stronger shed with top rollers. My shed builders drove me crazy and was not a good job, my other hangar was much better but the doors were lighter with top rollers and guides on the bottom.
  8. I believe aircraft departure point will surprise, I can't confirm.
  9. I would fix it ASAP or empty tank, the fuel will damage side strips, stain paint and mark side windows.
  10. Very good, thanks for posting. I have had the rare experience to spin a trike, some may say impossible, but it was caused by an aircraft wake that came very close and I mean CLOSE, trike nose dropped severely and rotated to right spinning fast and descending at steep nose down, after about 1500 feet lost, the recovery was textbook as explained by my instructor as a "what if " situation, the ground approached quickly and it was close to the ground after recovery. After the experience I thought I wound never fly again but it has made me a better pilot, I have since done spin training in a GA plane, all of this happened around 18 years ago.
  11. The claimed 110 knot speed is not quite right either. Believe it's around 95knot cruise.
  12. I have flown a Terrier 200 and there is truth in what you have been told but still a good aircraft and I could have easily got use to it, I found it very different but the more I flew the better it felt, I would happily own one. The Jabiru is a very practical aircraft and cheap to run, the Jabiru is easily repaired, maintained and replacements parts available and cheap, yes they are a bit average to fly without experience on them but once you get use to them they are fine and the CASA thing can only improve things eventually, but I don't agree with it. If you find an aircraft you like you need to know more about the way it was treated, storage, regular use, who maintained, experienced pilot or not, heavy landings from inexperienced pilots. I have owned five aircraft and there is no perfect aircraft for all situations. Currently own a J230, wish for an Amphibian. Good luck with your hunt,
  13. MARAP was brought in to allow changes like allowing certified sport planes to run engines on condition even in flying schools as GA have been doing and use different props etc, so I was told ! So why stop doing what we have been doing to 19 and modify ? if you can modify an LSA and put an E in front then what is going on ? I'm getting very tired of the CASA complications that seems to come from their Sport Aviation department.
  14. Firstly CASA have attacked RAA and Jabiru owners and flight schools as I see it not just Jabiru. . I posted for the benefit of Jabiru owners and Flight schools. . lawyers were not engaged by Jabiru. . CASA have done what ? What a load of dreamed up garbage. This is a disgraceful stupid statement that only a person who didn't care about the real facts would make. (Most likely the enemy) . What he flies is a GA plane, he does not appear to fly RAA planes, I fly GA and RAA. I am insulted by GA pilots who think RAA is inferior or not real aircraft. I'm not bagging GA pilots only the knockers. . I have chased a lot of information, there is no legal action in progress, there is inquiries and more information being sought. RAA has put in a FOI as per newsletter. . John has jumped to conclusions and invented scenarios and this is helping no one, this is totally misleading. . I am very reluctant to give any more information or help on this site due to people interfering with stupid and crazy assumptions that ruins it for people this involves and concerns. . Should any legal action take place it would need to be determined if it would be beneficial or damaging to the future of RAA and it's members, I think legal action of any kind would be off the table until CASA decide their future actions relating to the issues. . My post was not for the entertainment of the exaggerators or harmless speculators. I would not dream of writing the crap he did and if you think harmless speculation is what he said you are seriously wrong. .legal people have said .... What can we do for those affected? We encourage any flying training organisations or aviation organisation faced with adverse economic and business outlooks, due to this legislative instrument, to share their story with us. The Shine Lawyers Aviation Department is investigating the potential legal remedies which may be sought from various parties arising from the way these safety risks have been dealt with, and is looking at a range of options for operators who have suffered losses.
  15. I see you fly a piper Comanche and it seems you want to jump to conclusions and make misleading statements, are you interested at all in RAA or Jabiru owners or Flight Training Facilities ? Stick to your Comanche.
  16. Geoffreywh ! Have you ever read the Jabiru limitation, ops manual or 95.55 . Not all Jabs are RAA registered, some are NVFR and some RAA members have PPL and fly in CTA. What's wrong with point 1 & 2 ? How does this effect you ? If you want something to do read this http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2015L00228.
  17. Like I said I have been following very carefully and I am an FTF so am well aware of all what is happening, I'm more afraid of doing nothing and letting CASA destroy rather than fix and even more afraid of others doing nothing. The actions against Jabiru are similar to actions against others but.no one cared because they were small but I cared and still do.
  18. Yes but I find your comment inappropriate considering you do not own a jabiru ! the Jabiru has played a significant part in establishing recreational flying in this country. I have been addressing the issues with CASA myself and have lost much time and money already, have you lost anything ? I take this serious and have followed it carefully. Like I said Think carefully before comments ! This is about the freedom of recreational flying in this country as the limitations are not anywhere else ! I did not post this for your entertainment, it was for those that are genuinely interested !
  19. I just saw an interesting article some Jabiru owners and flying schools with Jabiru may be interested in. It is dated march 12th 2015 so is recent. https://www.shine.com.au/operating-limitations-on-aircraft-with-jabiru-engines/ please think carefully before any comments.
  20. That's where it's happened to me several times,
  21. Yes happened to me several times near airport of large town, very annoying. Someone before confirmed this on another thread about interference.
