  1. So do you look at latest news everyday, THOSE ON CASA DIRECT EMAIL NOTIFICATION GOT NOTHING. As a member of RAA I will not attend any function if CASA is present as in my view they are parasites sucking the life out of RAA and that's not all of them that's the ones that hang around and harass RAA. My opinion of them is at an all time low and will never get better because they can't be trusted.
  2. Well done skeptic 36, I nearly missed it.
  3. Message understood, BUT, Then why did CASA not act years ago ? Why did they certify it ? And I agree with you on the rest, but I do want a result. A good result.
  4. Dazza, with due respect, I as much as anyone else I would like to see jabiru engines reliable , please read post 306 . The point is ATSB was investigating LSA engine reliability over a period of time, CASA took the figures for the last 12 months, apart from that CASA pulled this nonsense on the 13th of Nov, the last day of the CFI conference and said nothing there, before a meeting with jabiru re audit they pulled this stunt, and that's what it is, really is this going to help make engines reliable ? Destroying another aircraft company and many RAA schools and a smaller choice of aircraft to buy. This is not what I want ? What do you want ?
  5. You sound like the type of person that would like a job with them, the yes sir attitude, seems to be what is going on now.
  6. I have been told by two, one on here and one by phone that receive CASA email notices of any changes, they received nothing. CASA has shown pure arrogance I have written to the minister and will continue to write to him until CASA shows respect to the aviation community it serves, remember planes were invented then along came the regulators. The Forsyth report has already shown that they are heavy handed, a further push from more people and we will see change in this CIRCUS called CASA, I believe they might even change their name again, they do that when people dislike them. It may be in force but CASA has a problem in the way their facts are presented. In 2003 when John Anderson played national airspace reform he ended up resigning, and probably because of the obvious and ridiculous mistakes. I bet Truss sees the light and gets rid of the real cause as I bet there's going to be some action soon. Kaz, what was so creative ?
  7. Articles, http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2014/12/23/4153787.htm http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-12-23/casa-bans-planes-with-jabiru-engines-from-flying-at-night/5985562 Jabiru have been producing engines over 20 years, you would think by CASA stupidity they started yesterday ! Wonder why CASA never acted before ?
  8. It is not on CASA's web on consultation draft. http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_102279 I think this is disgraceful behaviour from CASA, so if no one was notified and the document signed, is it in effect ? Our organisation has not been notified so I take it as it is not in force ! As you say a blatant stunt, I hope it backfires on those responsible !
  9. ATSB investigation into LSA engine reliability. http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/2013/ar-2013-107.aspx ATSB Quote, "The final report should be publicly available in 2015 and further short web updates may follow as data are collected and analysed." ATSB have not finished and released this updated report on 10th Dec, CASA started their Draft release on the 13th Nov, according to RAA CASA got their facts for the past year and ATSB quote, " Although some of these aeroplanes are registered (VH-registered) with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), the majority of these types of aeroplanes are registered with Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus). As such, the ATSB has examined occurrences of RA-Aus registered aeroplanes[1]reported to the ATSB and/or RA-Aus between 2009 and 2013 that the ATSB has classified as engine failures or malfunctions. Engine failures or malfunctions are only considered to be occurrences when they happened while the aircraft was boarded for flight. Fuel starvation and fuel exhaustion occurrences were not classified as engine failures or malfunctions. Additionally, the ATSB obtained registration and annual hours flown and take-off data for each RA-Aus registered aircraft to allow for analysis." I would think that CASA are acting very foolish.
  10. It is CASA that is sneaking around while there is a change of directors, Christmas break and businesses are closed including Jabiru and RAA. Start writing to the minister and ask why CASA has done nothing to solve or negotiable and solve problems, jabiru is arrogant and hard to get to solve problems but CASA is just trying to destroy everything. I will be determined now to see jabiru fix the problems and see CASA no longer involved in recreational aviation. The ATSB was investigating http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/2013/ar-2013-107.aspx. So is this what CASA acted on or were they running their own, according to RAA it seems CASA has not got their facts according to December newsletter. Quote " This led us to a simple conclusion – CASA has not undertaken robust analysis on reliable data to establish with any degree of accuracy that the failure rate of Jabiru engines is increasing over time. This is despite their statement that they have found statistically significant evidence in support of their claims."
  11. Appreciate your answer, do you share info with anyone I.e Jabiru, Camit or CASA that can do something about this. I personally have always felt it was the way the case halves join and heating different material i.e. alloy case and steel cylinders. Why are you researching this? Do you have a way of getting Jabiru to listen to you ?
  12. What is your opinion or official cause ?
  13. I'm starting to think CASA wants to administer recreational aviation. It has issued the RPL, it is equivalent to a Pilot certificate so why would you need a pilot certificate. People want weight increase and CTA so CASA offer it with RPL. It has hurt most schools using Jabiru, who is going to fly in a plane with limitations. What will happen when insurance companies see limitations. CASA have a sport aviation dept. CASA hanging around RAA for some time. (Pretending to be friend ) but causing grief. It has 3 ex RAA staff and Ex CASA staff at RAA was too friendly with CASA and let RAA get very messy. CASA have lost a lot of GA pilots to RAA and easy way to get back is administer recreational flying. I think that CASA is looking at the numbers.
  14. Let's just look at the aviation scene for a moment. Australian manufacturers of aircraft of decent (in varying qualities) products that are no longer in existence: Victa, CAC (the Nomad), Dean-Wilson (the Whitney Boomerang) various owners of the Skyfox Gazelle. Manufacturers who were Australian but are no longer Australian-owned: Gipps Aero, Seabird, Brumby. Then why don't we all lobby to get rid of the major cause, CASA, ? CASA has a track record of destroying aviation in this country. I think their use by date is here, we don't need them, the airlines might but I can't see their role in recreational aviation or manufacturing. CASA should be called WOFTAM.
  15. December email just arrived from RAA, it's official CASA is not behaving very good.
  16. My reasoning that class action is viable. CASA certified the engine. CASA have been aware of the engine history for some time and would have received defect reports. Camit is a CASA approved supplier and has recognised the engine problems and addressed them but unaccepted by Jabiru. Rotec and experienced engine manufacturer have recognised problems and addressed them but unaccepted by Jabiru. Many people have modified Jab engine with sucess eg k-liner valve guides, but unaccepted by Jabiru. Jabiru have issued ridiculous service letters in relation to their faulty parts eg valve washers. CASA published their proposed restrictions before meeting Jabiru causing flying schools loss of buisness. Very well cause loss of sales worldwide of Jabiru products. Loss of value of Jabiru aircraft worldwide. CASA released the first proposed restriction the last day of the CFI conference, never was discussed meaning CASA had NO Concern for the effect on RAA. I believe world wide class action will be a serious option if certain people continue their self important BS and not consult and resolve the issues at hand.
  17. Russ, read my post #66. Your J160C is still certified but the engine is still subject to any restriction CASA imposes. I personally don't believe CASA will Enforce it as it will bring a lot of Jabiru owners together for possible class action, as I said in #66 CASA did the certification so where is the proof of their case, they certified it ! Yes there are problems with the engine, but is this going to fix it by restricting it !
  18. A Cammit engine is an experimental engine and would be fitted to a home build or an experimental aircraft therefore NOT permitted to fly in controlled airspace or built up area that it cannot glide clear of, basically the same as what is threatened to do to Jabiru engines. I'm told jabiru is not interested in listening to Camit.
  19. Oscar you are not as smart as you think . DONT TELL ME NO !!! I make no statement without FACTS unlike you ! The Sierra built by Morgan Aeroworks was 24 rego, factory built and used for training until the Ferris wheel accident and they took away his certification even though if any other aircraft had hit this structure they would have disentergrated. 24 rego ones were then put on 19 reg !! Same with foxcon !!
  20. You are absolutely correct Kaz. I believe that this beat up on RAA needs to stop, yes the jab engine has problems but the CASA method is not going to fix it, it seems Jabiru doesn't listen to Cammit from what I heard, both will fold if this continues as I can't see anyone in their right mind buying a new Jabiru, a friend recently said he wanted to buy one and showing the fiasco to him put him right off, flying schools will need to get other than Jabiru if they want students to fly with them. If jabiru folded it would be an easy fix, just put Cammit and Rotax engines in and your laughing, I hope Jabiru goes broke and Cammit survive long enough for someone to take over.
  21. Regard to engine the foxcon terrier was about the engine as it used a subaru with a dual ignition system but no dual plugs, so a debate able argument and that should have been sorted before it was approved.
  22. I think the comment about Jabiru the first is way out of line because there have been others Foxcon, Morgan and Ibis, all of the aircraft I have mentioned I have flown and regard highly. I said it before and I say it again everyone should stamp their feet and tell CASA they have had enough of the ridiculous BS they carry on with, and while your at it tell Rod Stiff to get his head out of the sand and fix the problems, Cammit have but Jabiru don't appear to be interested and the arrogance of Jabiru is real as I have seen it first hand.
