    We have potholes everywhere at present. I can cruise my Prado at 100kph and it just rolls over them. But if my wife's Corolla Hybrid hit one it would bust the tyre and shatter the rim, the tyres are really low profile. So she has to swerve suddenly instead. What would an investigator conclude?

    Meteorology may be a weakness of RAA training compared with GA. I don't know that, but remember that meteorology was a big deal in my GA training many years ago. Having said that, lots of GA pilots seem to get themselves into unexpected IMC situations.

    A p38 Lightning crashed on Mt Elliot during WW2 and the wreckage has never been found. I was part of a party that went looking for it about 30 years ago. mt Elliot is bigger than you think!

    Air Canada announced Thursday that it had ordered 30 ES-30 electric aircraft from Heart Aerospace. The plane can fly up to 124 miles in all-electric mode or up to 500 miles with capacity limitations. The Swedish manufacturer has garnered firm orders from United Airlines and Mesa Airlines. Scheduled to enter service in 2028, the plane is set to seat 30 passengers in a two-by-one configuration and fly up to 124 miles, or 200 kilometers, when in all-electric mode. The range can extend to 249 miles when the battery is supplemented by generators and 497 miles when the capacity is limited to 25 people, according to Air Canada.

    I grew up in Broken Hill and don’t believe I was intellectually impaired. But anyone living alongside a major road in our cities would have ingested far more lead than I did.

    Agreed. Lead oxides, carbonates near the surface of the earth are quite soluble and get into the water system. Lead sulphides, deeper in the earth and unaltered, are much more stable.

    They hover over Avocado crops to prevent frost damage. Or they did in NZ some years ago.

    It is easy to print WAC sections from OzRunways. I have only an A4 printer so need several pages for a long trip. I don’t know how to scale them correctly but print the route with 10 mile ticks.

    I feel sorry for the 152 pilot. He could not have anticipated anyone would come in so fast. It would have seemed reasonable to get his touch and go done before the 340 arrived, until the moment he realised too late that something weird was happening.

    God point about the ASI. Perhaps it should be bigger and right in your face. It doesn’t get the prominence it deserves.
