  2. Some brave bidding there for ex-school planes.
  3. Re previous post - this plane landed safely! Hit by a Cirrus that popped its chute.
  4. Latest mid-air collision yesterday. Unbelievable result. https://denver.cbslocal.com/2021/05/12/small-plane-crash-mid-air-collision-cherry-creek-reservoir-denver-colorado/
  5. It’s that guy from Parks and Recreation, but I don’t know why.
  6. I was not asked for my ASIC in Birdsville. Maybe slipped through.
  7. No submission shown for AOPA or RAA.
  8. The pic is a clipped wing variant, for a faster roll rate in ground attack ops.
  9. Plenty of people paying around $200K for new RAA aircraft these days.
  10. There is an old thread titled Outback Mustang about a good static replica in South Australia. Sorry I don’t know how to provide a link.
  11. It would be interesting to know whether the STOL Youtubers in the USA need permission to land on all the hilltops, streamsides and so on. Is it Federal land or private? Do they carry insurance for their exploits?
  12. My point was that there have been GA pilots caught out by the low inertia, high drag aircraft like Drifters where an instant response to loss of power is required. Some RA aircraft are easy to convert on, others less so. I am not an instructor, but I imagine the five hour rule takes the pressure and liability concerns off them in the many cases where more than an hour or two of conversion is required.
  13. I guess they had to make a general rule. The Gazelle is probably the easiest plane to fly on the register, and there are some particularly challenging ones. As I recall the 5 hours was mostly solo for me, I don't remember paying dual rates for that.
  14. There are a lot of posts on the web about Rotec engine problems. As an Aussie I prefer not to believe many of them.
  15. My understanding is that this has rudder control through a unique arrangement of the control column. The Ercoupe had no rudder control by the pilot, but it was linked to the ailerons. Others may know more!
  16. Depends on whether the ground beneath is freehold title or is a lease. If freehold it is the same as buying a house or commercial property. If a lease, you buy the physical construction but must continue paying the ground lease. There may be a requirement for prior approval of the transaction by the lessor, and there will be a need for lease transfer documentation.
  17. Maybe it was this guy. We have been warned about the French.
  18. M'aidez!
  19. If so, he lasted about two minutes in IMC, more or less as we are told.
  20. The current structure is appropriate for the organisation. There were several limitations of the previous structure, well described at the time we voted.
  21. One track, your example of barring down means something to me, I have been there and done that and had my mate hit by a falling stone. He was walking up the rill and I shouted but he didn’t hear me. He couldn’t work as a miner again.
  22. New chairman Mark Binskin has military aviation experience way back . His interests are camping, motor sports, dancing and motorcycle riding. New CEO Pip Spence is a woman with no aviation experience at all. here we go again!
  23. Do autopilots have an offset function, say 200m to the right, when following a track?
  24. The important pat of Thruster88s quote is that : Under those regulations, all current pilots must have an aviation security status check. You will also need an aviation security status check if are applying for a flight crew licence.
