  2. I thought id get a few comments like that, you see if you saw what we can actually do you would realise, this type of stuff is a walk in park with a beer in the hand :) Nd yep with a 912 up ya butt ill fly anywhere/anytime, you really need to be able to trust your engine, this is why i got shoot down on the other thread for recomended some one getting a REAL engine. Would any others like to follow us in car engine machines???????
  3. just to really throw the cat amoungst the pigueons have a look at these; These was filmed all over his own property, so there is no legal problems :) The only ones allowed to this is me and him so no traffic probs either:)
  4. Guys i got a couple of machines for sale right now just to give you a taste of what is around in the gyro world. See links below; http://www.asra.org.au/smf/index.php?topic=3661.0 http://www.asra.org.au/smf/index.php?topic=3666.0 Cheers Bones
  5. Maj, I only getting about 800* sposed to be around 900*, with 950* max, so im using a bit more fuel than i could be, though i wont worry about it for awhile till the motor gets over 50 odd hrs. I figured as much thou it was free to ask thanks :) Need to go for a fly again to just enjoy flying, sick of going round and round and round, startiing to understand how a student can get sour i guess.
  6. getting back to this thread, will dropping the needles, raise the egts, or do you need to change the main jets?
  7. The fuel injected 914 rotax that the US defence use for unmanned aircraft have over 300000hrs combined, and they do pump out the full 150 hp. Is that reliable enough for you, and you can get them for 20kUS ????? I know of one ofr in Oz now.
  8. Actually there is a way of getting 135hp out of the rotax easy, and reliablity is being proven now, some machines now reaching very close to 1000hrs. The 914 rotax, can with a bit of tweeking, but basically in the stock form can and will produce 180hp, for how long is another question. Bones
  9. Like i said get a real engine, i DID NOT state what type there are different engines for the job under 30k. I also did state i factual question though, how much do you value your neck??? I will leave your thread alone now cheers.
  10. I agree and we do every now and agin, and i try to do it at the end of their last lesson if they not going to be back for awhile, 15 mins just flying to enjoy it :) Acky, yeah no probs i get what your saying i just thought i would say that the call signs ect wasnt the issue. Yes this particular guy is a mature guy, so i know from experience they take awhile longer to"click" just wondering if there is another i can do differently thats all.
  11. One thing i need to say is this problem has NOTHING to do with the radio, i dont bother useing it unless there is another aircraft in the area, very few ac at the field so it is great for training. the nearest airfield is about 1 hr fly away :)
  12. 1 question why bother?? like i mean to say, how much is your neck worth? get a real engine, simple.
  13. Sue and Steven, i understand all of what you both say, and i agree, i know they get through it, i turned out about 10 students now, but the thing is i was wondering if there is anything other than the ground talks ect, that could help them though some of the issues all students seem to have. I dont concider myself an instructor, im just a pilot who can show someone how to fly. my dress code needs updating, i usually fly in shorts and an old work shirt. I am just brain storming to try and help the students this is all.
  14. Ok now this has happened to nearly ever student i have trained, and it is now happening again with another student that has come from another instructor ect ect, now he was having trouble getting his head around the basics, but then it just clicked like it does, next thing he was holding s&l up the strip at 20' going well started on the t&gos, was going good, then this morning some one constructed a bloody brick wall in his mind and it is like he is starting over again. So a question to other instuctors or others with more training experience than i, is there anything i can do other than to just keep him as focused as possible, until the 3-4 hrs pass, which it usually takes, then they say "this is not that hard is it".
  15. Yes i told you before it works perfectly, if transmission or intercom breaks squelch, the music is muted, you may need to send it back to microair, and get it rewired for the music, and the uhf radio if you want, they now have a uhf the size of a cigarette packet
  16. was that a new out of the box? get used to it, damn seems like i cant get anything without any sort of damage, mumble mumble
  17. Daily Horne is a cracker i know of, he was a couple of years older than me in school, man did he cop it over his name, poor bugga
  18. you can download the book and get it bound yourself, which i have done, i use it for flight training to give to students very good read. if needed i will find the link to the free download.
  19. blody hell you found me here too.
  20. Saw a white float plane of some sort up here the other day, with a definate" i really wish this cloud would p*ss off" apperance :) flying all over the place then flew back the way he came, the cloud base was only about 200', i was waiting for it to lift so i could do circuits with a student.
  21. My solution to the problem was build my own, then every one else decided it wasw a great idea to fill it up, BUT im on the outside EVERYTIME :) or else some one gets left outside
  22. good to see you guys have the same problems with people not reporting a stuff up, it takes some guts to own up and send a report in, but at the end of the day, its good to get phone calls from people you havent talked to since your last one :)
  23. The 1700mt thing was abit to tongue in cheek, damn at sea level i only need bout 100mts i recon, yeah got a report off the missus who is on the Sunny coast said it was raining and blowing like a bugger:big_grin:, i just love the wind on the nose. Anyway i might get down there one day.
  24. hmmm not this week end from the looks, i got about 100nm, and was met with a very low level cloud ie on the ground,(pea soup type) from one horizon to the other, so turned around and only just beat the rain and crap weather home, or well i will do the trip sometime just not this week end :)
