  1. Shell make an oil to Rotax specs, its called shell aerosport4, about the same price as good synth oils anyway plus it has the additive approved by Rotax
  2. Just got to ask why so high, man this is gyro heaven if ever i saw it.
  3. Funny you should say that Maj, it never ceases to amase me how many people think that a chute will save their bacon, if the motor goes out, just land the damn thing, and might i add gyros are the best at this
  4. My 912ULS just ticked over 1100hrs and still gets the same as when i got it 1000hrs ago, on average pushing a gyro(high drag) about 5100 rpm, at about 70kts, over 7 hrs it averages 15-16lts, but i have got as low as 8lts over 6hrs, very good conditions(not at that speed thou)
  5. Maj, Dont get me wrong i have heard of some horror stories about 914's too, but i guess it is the luck of the draw with them but the 912's IMHO are absolutely bullet proof, and this is why we have gone the way of the no elec turbo, it just takes all the crap out of the situation
  6. yeah it is definately a choice, and for me there is nothing as safe at low and slow as a gyro fan, sure they are not a great A to B machine but then I have flown to Sa nd back nd planing on Perth Easter next year. I will offer to take anyone for a quick lap:rotary:
  7. A ringer from a huge cattle station in outback Australia appeared before Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. Have you ever done anything of particular merit?" St Peter asked. Well, I can think of one thing," the ringer offered. "Once, on a trip to the backblocks of Broken Hill out in New South Wales, I came across a gang of bikies, who were threatening a young sheila. I told them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most heavily tattooed bikie and smacked him in his face, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground. I yelled, "Now, back off!! Or I'll kick the sh*t out of the lot of ya's!" St Peter was impressed, "When did this happen?" Just a couple minutes ago..."
  8. Well first off i know of at least 3 of 914 with over 1500 hrs and not a spanner on any thing, this is in gyros too, the motor definately works harder in them than a FW. I agree with you about the electric side of it, this is why the Xenon uses the other method and gets more hp, for no complications. This is also why if there is one little bit of trouble with the motor i got in the shed, i am going to rip all that crap off and stick a waste gate on it and be done with it. Maj, How long before the machine will be able to go down to you as Tom rang me a couple of nights ago and asked if it can stay here til things get sorted out down there? What ever that ment. Feel free to contact for details on different bits of how the machine works ect if you need, i will organise and slip down and see all you fellas one day, just give me the co ords of the field on pm if you wouldnt mind.
  9. The main thing i hate is pilots who for somew damn reason speak like they are being charged per second on the air, usually all i get is the airport they are using, northing else makes any sense and its not just me, plenty of complaits like this i hear from every where. Just steady up and speak clearly PLEASE
  10. People, since i live somewhere there is very little humidity, i have sold an aircraft to a guy just outside Darwin, now what is the best way of try to keep water out of the tanks, while stored? :dousing: Thanks
  11. :baldy:Orrr yeah the tow mow i forgot about that one
  12. Ok then it seems i really need to find out some more info before i put up posts from now on, hmmmmm, well that is news to me, really jail time?? He taught myself and 2 brothers to fly for nothing when we brought his old machine, which was still in pretty good shape i guess for the deal we got, i cant really say he did us wrong but then i guess he had to watch his step abit cause his strip was on our land. Maybe we should let this thread die a natural death then sorry if i stubbled on to a bad topic. :kboom::dousing:
  13. Does anyone know if he is still training just that since he taught me to fly some 20yrs ago he left town and i never heard of him again. He was instructing in Thrusters here in Charters Towers, around the mid to late 80's. Just wondering thats all
  14. A friend dropped in so i took him for a quick fly Around Charters Towers and area in the Xenon Gyroplane Hmmmmmm wouldnt work, i will load it to youtube and post the link. Here it is, a bit rough but its my first video edit attempt :)
  15. Funny you should bring this up i was talking about this at work yesterday and it was said to me, some on tv tested duct, they put 100 strips of it over a lifting strong arm and without going under neath, just sticking to the sides of the load it weighted 10 ton, and the duct tape held it for 24 mins before it dropped. I didnt see it but i could believe it, they dont call it 100mph tape for nothing.
  16. Yep sure can Art right about the time i first laid eyes on one of these, hmmm i wonder who took this pic, thanks for the disk it turn up yesterday, im gonna put a couple of the vids on youtube and throw the links up here soon.
  17. Holy crap, talk about a posessed plane, that is sure amazing no one was killed.
  18. Ok, after searching just sbout every site i can search/find/stumble on i cant seem to find a site or supplier, that stocks these landing gear types. Looking for either one full piece in a U shape(if you know what i mean) or 2 halves, prefer with the axle mount section being vertical, so the wheels i have can just bolt straight on, using the 4 bolt pattern about 2" square. Any hints people ???
  19. I just thought this is a classic, obviously you dont XXXX this guy off. :) This Ad Was Posted to Craig's List Personals: To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 05-27-09, 1:43 A M EST. I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on my girlfriend, threatening our lives and me. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message. First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment when I drew my pistol after you took my Jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 45 A CP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very Intimidating weapon when pointed at your head wasn't it? I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from bare footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again]. After I called your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I Went and filled up my gas tank as well as four other people's in the gas station on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful! I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go’s, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!] I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car. Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target. The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.). In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider the career path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky. Have a good day! Thoughtfully yours, Alex
  20. Is that what happen to the UL a couple of years ago, just north of the Towers here? How and why it cause a crash?
  21. Maybe the best Ossie made, is what you ment to say ayy Sem :stirring pot:
  22. Among other things already listed, i can do a vertical descent to 100', then just land without adding power or a wing droping, arrrrr the beauty of rotary flight.
  23. Yeah ususally its a gyroplane even if its a damn trike, powered parachute, hang glider, even an UL. This is good news for us any ways
  24. The only bars i ever had on my shoulders were bloody crow bars, and any one is welcome to take them back
