He went back the way he came (back over the North Sea). Flew in from the east, circled twice and don’t know if this is merely a coincidence but was within a few miles of RAF Buchan remote radar then flew of back east. Aircraft at that altitude and that direction are normally bound for North America.

Photographed this today over Aberdeenshire coast and wondered if anyone knew what this pilot was doing.
