  1. G'day All The fly-in is a fairly laid back affair, nothing like an airshow. There is ground advisory and the tower will not be active but they will advise on the day if the tower does become active and the airfield operates under normal CTAF® 127.65 same as Toowoomba on weekends. And there are no hard and fast scheduled display times, it's "as it happens" And as mentioned the times are from 10am till 4 pm both days which are spectator invitation times but if you are flying you can arrive earlier and even the crowds tend to start arriving from 9am if all is fine I should be positioned out near the windsock so if you are flying in and see me there give us a wave (may even be the chance you see yourself in the pages of Pac Flyer )
  2. G'day All the Oakey Fly-in is on both the Saturday and Sunday 3-4th October respectively. Not sure how many are expected but I do know a CAC Mk21 Mustang wil be conducting adventure flights along with a T-28D-5 Trojan Usually a nice turn out of classic aircraft. I know a couple of recreational aircraft clubs in the area thinking of going. it is getting bigger each year. And the ex-military vehicle club members will have a collection of vehicles there. And some trade and memorabilia displays will be present as well. Should be a good weekend.
  3. Thanks Tomo and Philthy I will explore the upload sizes a bit more. I have a great time taking shots of aircraft. Love it!! Regards Scott

  8. G'day all Just joined up, found the site in the pages of pacifc flyer magazine and thought I would join and say hi I am not a regular flyer but do have a student licence and will do something about that, hopefully sooner rather then later. But in the interim i enjoy Aviation Photography as a keen interest and contribute regularly to pacific Flyer magazine covering events and writing articles and also semi regularly to Australian pilot(AOPA) as well. I am also the fly-in coordinator of the annual David Classic Aircraft And vehicle meet in Toowoomba, looking after the aviation side of the event(Invitations, promotion etc) which has been a privilege indeed to be involved in that event. looking forward to chatting Regards Scott Williamson
  9. G'day All Just joined the ranks. I have seen the photo comp in pac flyer and thought I might try my hand at submiting a happy snap or two .
  10. G'day all and thanks for the great feedback Heres one for you Coop- This is the J5G Auster that took out the "Best Auster" Award @ the FoF event. The only image I got of it was when it arrived late Friday Arvo. Nice aircraft. Regards Scott
  11. G'day All Queensland Vintage Aeroplane Group recently held their annual Festival of Flight Fly-in over the weekend of August 29-30. It was pleasing to see the heavier warbird types make it to the event. With so much being documented about the global financial situation and the "domino effect" caused from such, it was going to be interesting to see how it was going to affect attendees this year. But it was one of the best events seen. And a fantastic gathering of not just warbird types but also Vintage and classic types as well. It shows how relatively healthy the warbird movement in Australia is at this time. I just love the old birds. I have a few snippets from the event- http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1489 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1482 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1480 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1463 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1458 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1387 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1386 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1361 Kindest Regards Scott
  12. G'day Damien "When the planets align" down the track and if you feel comfortable with this, I will take some snaps of you doing some take-off/Landings if you want me too. Scott
  13. It was a nice day on Saturday Saw the Boeing Stearman(VH-ZYZ) get some air under its wings on Saturday. Helped give the "Recall" Stearman a nice clean before she went up. Lovely aircraft. http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=1169&mode=search Here are a couple of shots of DDAC training Aircraft. You my have been in one of these particular aircraft Damien especially the TraumaHawk http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=818 http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=815 And this is a shot i took earlier this year during a ballon bursting comp http://www.recreationalpilots.com.au/gallery/details.php?image_id=817 Regards Scott
  14. Actually on another thread you have answered my question. Will possibly catch you around. The DDAC monthly comps are good fun. I am sometimes there catching the landings with my camera. But mostely out on the field when the Aerotec Adventure flights and warbird guys are operating, taking shots of those departing and landing. Never get sick of seeing or hearing those guys flying. Scott
  15. G'day Damien And good to see another Toowoomba'ite here. Well done on the the lessons. Are you going through DDAC? for your lessons. Scott
  16. G'day Miss Da Plane I have this feeling I may have met you at Bundy Airshow. Were you organising the media/photography groups? Scott
  17. G'day JL Yep sure did. I was part of the ground support advance party, arrived on the Thursday for the Toowoomba "Stonefish Squadron" - 4 Trojans one Winjeel and one Yak52 Shame the wind created a few minor headaches on the Saturday but I am glad it was not as bad as Friday. It certainly tested pilots skills. Had a great time.
  18. Did any make it up to the Wide Bay Airshow? Scott
  19. Thanks Robbo it was a lot of fun. Scott
  20. G'day JL Sorry for not replying to yours before this but had already left for the trip north. I was in the ground crew ute on the way up and back. Had a great time. The weather was little ordinary at times but managed to get a few shots in, especially Saturday. The adventure operators did well, and the response was great from the locals. A big thanks to the Maryborough Aero Club for their hospitality too in both providing food and their facilities saturday evening for a bit of a relax before heading back to our Accom. operating the adventure flights we had 1 T-28 Trojan a CAC Winjeel and nanchang CJ-6A. Also from Toowoomba stables we had arrive another 2 T-28's, 1 Yak 52, 1 PAC CT4-E Airtrainer and a Cessna 182. So there was a few of us to make a bit of noise. Scott
  21. G'day JL The T-28 and most of the other aircraft will be there all weekend until sunday Arvo, and/or dependant upon what the weather is like back home to when we all depart. Scott
  22. G'day All yep it all happens up here. Well.. when we are not either running out of water or trying to cope with too much!!
  23. G'day all Just letting those in the Maryborough area know that there will be some warbirds from Toowoomba venturing upto Maryborough QLD for the weekend conducting Adventure flights for those willing to occupy the spare seat and enjoy a flight in these old birds. A T-28 will be there from Midday Approx. toomorrow (FRIDAY 29th May) Also a CAC Winjeel will be there toomorrow. also there will be possibly another one if not two T-28 Trojans a Yak-52 and a Nanchang ariving on Saturday. So there will be a group of us making some noise and filling the air with the sound of round. So if you are in the area come and say G'day. Regards Scott
  24. G'day all And the way it is raining here in toowoomba at the moment I think we have recieved more rain in two days than we have recieved in the last year. Talked to a customer of mine, having to cancel another job due Wx, he told me he has measured 80mm of rain this morning(7.30am) for the last 24hr period which is very good for us and expecting another two days of consistant wet weather. Severe weather warning has been issued for QLD SE today too. So no pleasure flying will be happening today, although I heard a King Air depart about 5 minutes ago Scott
