  1. I use a PingUSB - it does use USB for power only and connects to ipad via Wifi. It would not be suitable if you dont have a sim in the ipad and expect to use Wifi to connect to phone hotspot. I love it but sometimes its a little sensitive to position in the aircraft relative to the ipad. We flew about 12 hours on a trip last weekend with no issues.
  2. The amount of information we get from EFBs these days is amazing. We did what we had to before them but I think its much safer now.
  3. I have not tried SWS yet on my recently acquired Cherokee C 180. Will be interested to see what you come up with.
  4. When I had my new aircraft in for avionics work I kept the ADF - its a very classic one - for the look ! However it does still work. Flew over Wagga a couple of weeks ago and tried it out for old times sake.
  5. You are absolutely correct Nev !! About 50 aircraft out in the parking area plus a lot of hangars open. For some reason I can't edit that post to currect
  6. It was a lovely day with quite a nood northout
  7. Yes exactly - I have out on the aircraft already so the skyecho is overkill. They do look like a good thing though.
  8. I now have ADSB out on my aircraft. Have just purchased a uavionix PING ADSB receiver to display ADSB traffic on OzRunways. Have not tried it yet but should give similar input to the Skyecho at a fraction of the price.
  9. I enjoy the Foxbat. Not particularly fast but otherwise a nice aircraft. And its comfortable for my 6'2". I must get back in one - have not flown one for almost a year.
  10. I am going - should be a big turnout of very interesting aircraft for the 50th anniversary !
  11. Are some people confusing QNH and QFE in this discussion ?
  12. ECHUCA (YECH) C3/24 RWY 17/35 CLOSED DUE WIP SOUTHERN GRAVEL TWY AND CENTRAL TWY CLOSED DUE WIP FROM 03 032000 TO 05 310000 EST
  13. I love OzEunways, have used it almost from its inception, and have no intention of stopping just because of an ownership change. Maybe in the future if all the dire predictions in this post come true I will change my mind but not until it actually happens.
  14. Thanks - yes got that feedback so I have ordered the mag as well
  15. I have gone for the TailbeaconX and AV30C as well. Being installed next week. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. For me it killed two birds - my DG was dying so will use the AV30C as DG.
  16. I have that as a back up - but cant find where they publish a direct number these days.
  17. Thanks for that ! Will give it a go
  18. Isn’t the ky96 the 24 volt version ?
  19. Hi folks, my ky97a has lost its screen. I have to ferry the aircraft to Bankstown in the next week or so to get new radio amongst other things. While a handheld will probably work I was wondering if anyone in the Sydney / Camden area had a serviceable ky97a lying round I could borrow ?
  20. I live 5 minutes from one airport where no hangars available, 15 minutes from another where hangarage is about 800+ per month - bought a hangar about 50 minutes away will have to see how that effects my flying.
  21. If only casa would do things in a reasonable time. 29 business days after doing my medical and I am still waiting !
  22. I did - when I was pretty sick ! Now waiting to get my medical approved 5 years later - long delays in CASA !!
  23. That flight sounds familiar !
  24. The compression or leak down number only say what each cylinder is like. The cost of replacement or overhauled cylinders is not huge. However, on a little used engine the big problems will come from internal corrosion and deterioration on things like camshaft, etc. When I bought my Auster it had done only 3 hours in the last year. One cylinder had 36 while the others were 78. It had corrosion and leaking round valve seat. This was fixed and the total was about $1500.
  25. Brings back memories. Quite a few hundred enjoyable hours flying SNQ including on my honeymoon!
