  1. That is good timing - I will be driving home from the National veteran Motorcycle Rally in Kingaory on the 27th - may have to detour to Caboolture !! Sounds like a great event.
  2. Its just dual but worth doing too see what they are like. Great fun - I am lucky now as a friend has one I fly a bit.
  3. There is a 180 at Camden available for dual through Curtis - they are worth flying - great fun
  4. I had a look through the forums before posting this one - there was a similar request related to southern states. Nothing for NSW. In my research I also found the AOPA Touring Guide which is great - bought it yesterday. Has lots of info but not all up to date. I agree with Chris - an online directory would be great - but I guess the normal issues of keeping current. Maybe a forum section here broken up by state where people could just put up a post stating where they went and some of the details ? It would be easy to look through that.
  5. Yeah - I should have been more specific. Unfortunately I don't have access to that 210 any more (lovely thing it was). More like 110 knots these days. Place looks interesting though Thanks for the other suggestions - Middlebrook looks fantastic Would be great if there was some sort of directory for these types of places
  6. My wife and I have a kid free weekend coming up - we would like to fly to a B&B which either has its own airfield (preferably) or is close to one. One to two hours flying time from Sydney. Any suggestions ?
  7. I have tried downloading waypoints and flight plan from FP3000 to my new Avmap GPS and can't seem to get it working. Neither user manual sheds much light on this. Has anyone out there got it working who could post some instructions ?
  8. Love the sounds of a Harvard on takeoff !! On the C180 I fly the tip noise is very loud on takeoff so we always reduce RPM - makes a huge difference - very noise sensitive residents round here (who moved in after the airport was built)
  9. Thanks for the responses folks. Gives me a broad idea. Apart from the permanent structures has anybody had any experience of the fabric "transportable" ones ?
  10. I may have the opportunity to build a hangar. Was wondering what options there are and the sort of prices I would be looking at. Relocatable may be better than permanent. We are looking at something about 12M wide by 10M or maybe about 20M to fit more than one aircraft.
  11. Fantastic Ben ! A great record
  12. Yeah - I would gladly have most !! Were you there in an Auster - which one ?
  13. The 195s are beautiful aircraft - there were 6 there of the 7 in Australia !! The other one is awaiting an engine replacement. The highlight of the airshow for me was the Southern Knights - a Harvard formation display team. For private pilots they are awesome
  14. That was me !! You seemed to be on a mission Was a fantastic weekend - and the flying conditions were perfect !! We were certainly lucky with departure though - there was a huge queue at the taxiway when the Roulettes finished. A certain cheetah was #1 and we were #3 so very quick getaway. Got back to Camden in plenty of time
  15. The Antique Aircraft Association is having its national flying at Echuca this weekend (1-3 April) - looks to be a big event. Anyone else going ? We are flying in Saturday - departing Sunday after the airshow.
  16. I must admit that my feelings were it was fine as an event - but not much of an airshow - not even so much as a turn from the display aircraft let alone proper displays. I gather there was some issue with CASA ! I was on the vintage bike display and had a good time
  17. Weather looks good for Sunday - and a great program listed now its officially an airshow !
  18. Thanks Yenn, Is this for home built or is it the same for all experiemental (eg Yak 18) ?
  19. I have been trying to work out what aircraft registered in limited and experimental categories are actually able to do from a private flying perspective. There are definitions in the CASA rules, but what is the real life reality. Can you basically use them for any private purpose - cross country, etc ? I guess it depends on whats written on the COA. For example is there any real restriction apart from hire/reward on usage of a Yak 18 in Experimental ? or a 52 in Limited ?
  20. A friend and I are attending the Antique Aircraft Association flyin at Echuca in April (2-3). We had planned on going in his aircraft but now wives want to go we don't fit !! The backup I had is now not available on that weekend. I know its a long shot - but is there anyone out there in the Sydney area who has a classic/vintage aircraft you may be willing to "rent out" for the weekend ? I am happy to pay well if I can find something. It would be a shame to go in a modern.
  21. One I like is Air America - plenty of flying amongst blowing things up !
  22. Thanks Kaz. We are staying near Black Rock so I guess Moorabin is closest - I think Coldstream is NE of that ?
  23. Motz's suggestion would certainly keep the aircraft away !!
  24. I will be in Melbourne over the next couple of weeks for a sailing event - was hoping to rent a plane while there for some sightseeing - any recommendations ? Doesn't really matter what type but has to be GA as I don't have an RA certificate.
