  1. Don’t sell the Auster Kaz. It’s painful
  2. I only met Ido last month and went for a fly with him. He seemed a very nice guy and his enthusiasm for all things aviation was infectious
  3. With my current cancer there is no talk of cancelling actual licence. In fact CASA are keeping in touch with progress so we can start the process of getting medical back. While the process sucks it certainly attainable. there was an article not that long ago of a QANTAS flight that was crewed completely by people who have recovered from cancer.
  4. Still battling the big c but making progress. Hopefully get my medical back in a few months
  5. Nice one Nev ! The C180 is one of my all time favourite touring aircraft.
  6. Pretty impressive. The difference between the Foxbat and A32 is huge and shows what can be achieved cleaning up. They are the same wing I think.
  7. Hi all, just wondering if anyone in the Sydney area has FLARM installed in a GA aircraft. Would be interested in chatting
  8. It’s weird flying in to Camden via Oran Park. It’s a huge new town where the old race track was. Every roof is grey !
  9. While I understand its an interesting project and is worth doing to keep brain cells working I am not sure that there is actually a need for a backup ? If you are using apps like OzRunways they allow you to load a copy on your phone as a backup as part of the subscription - including all the functions they offer.
  10. Wouldn't it depend on what the minimum octane rating for your engine is ?
  11. There has been a big focus recently in reviews on partial engine failure. Last two AFRs I have done have included it. As the guy says in the video in some ways it can be worse than a complete failure
  12. I plan on being there
  13. I am going for the full week - my first time. Joined the EAA and booked the full week ticket as well as camping on site. All very easy.
  14. Brings back so many memories - sitting in class overlooking Rose Bay watching the operations (don't remember so much about the class !!)
  15. The ASIC is not that hard to get. Takes a while and costs money though. Quite a few locations require them
  16. That’s what makes me think it’s part of their act but cool anyway
  17. Well, not sure if this was staged or for real but its certainly impressive ! I don't think current LAMEs would go to these lengths !
  18. Looks like a typical busy day in the circuit at our local airfield !
  19. I have used "The Claw" for years on my aircraft. Recently we bought four sets from the Clearprop store for the four Scouts NSW Cessnas - so these days we are not using the aforementioned Boy Scout Pegs !!
  20. Nev, unfortunately most of the effected engines have very low hours - ours only 130 since overhaul !! BTW are you going to Nuriootpa in September ? Would be good to catch up
  21. Correct - that is how its documented - slide piston down just enough to remove gudgeon and leave piston in the bore
  22. Lycoming quotes about 13 hours for the inspection if nothing is wrong plus you have to buy the test tool.
  23. We have finalised all the details for our install now. The unit has a backup battery so that's all ok. Only thing that ended up being a problem is that there is no description of how to plug the vac system pipe. $500 engineering order later ! Seems everywhere else they just do it but not here.
  24. Yes thats the way I used to run it
  25. We had one of ours done last week. Luckily it passed so didn't have to have the rods removed.
